I was looking for a laptop such as hp2700t or vostro 1400 or a thinkpad t61.
These all look good but dont have the video memory I was looking for. I was wondering if I buy say the hp2700t with a Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 could I buy a video card and input it myself?
Could I do it if I have an hp2700t or a vostro 1400 with a 128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS?
Is it hard?
Thanks!

Nope, most laptops on the market today, you CANNOT upgrade the GPU. Usually, the GPU is soldered to the motherboard = no upgrade. Sorry, but you'll have to find a laptop/GPU combination that will match your needs/wants.
There are companies out there that make a smaller laptop (if that's what your looking for) that do have a pretty decent GPU. Such as the ASUS F8, it has a 14 inch screen, and the 8600gt...well I think now it has the 9500 GS..or something like that? Basically, the main components that you'll be able to upgrade are the CPU, hard drive, and of course, the memory. Just look around, and make sure you purchase a notebook that you won't get stuck regretting since you didn't get the GPU specs you wanted. -
IGPs (Integrated Graphics Processors) are soldered onto the the board, so they are impossible to ugprade. The same goes for discrete cards, for the most part.
