    Can My Notebook Run It?
    last updated: 3/1/09

If you'd like to know if your notebook can run a game, this is the right place!

Some things to note before you post:
    • Integrated video cards are NOT meant for gaming. Don't expect much from them.
    • This thread is also meant to ask for laptops that you don't own yet, but would like to know how they will perform

In order to determine if you computer can run a certain game we need your specs. Please provide the following in either your post or signature:

    --Start Example--

    CPU:
    GPU:
    RAM:
    Display:

    --End Example--

Under "Display", please make sure to indicate your native resolution.

Also, make sure to let us know specifically what games you would like to play. You can ask a more direct question such as "Can I run this game at high settings?", or a more general question like "At what settings can I run this game?". We'll do our best to help.

And that's it! Your final post should look something like this:

Hi :) I was wondering how much can my laptop handle Crysis Warhead, Supreme Commander Forged Alliance, GTA4, Empire Total War, Need for Speed Shift, Fallout 3 and The Witcher?

    Here are my specs:
    Alienware M17x
    Intel Core 2 QX9300 @ 2.53ghz, 12MB L2, 1066FSB
    4GB DDR3 1333mhz RAM
    Dual Nvidia GeForce GTX280M SLI
    1900x1200 WUXGA Beyond HD 1200P

Sorry if I'm asking too much, but I spent a lot of money on this machine and I'm really curious what is it capable of.

    Thank you in advance!

My friend has an Acer with T4200, the same ram, Geforce G105m, he can play Crysis at all low, AC and COD WAW at low medium so I expect the G110m to be a little bit better.

I'm thinking of playing through either Crysis or Warhead, not sure which. If I use that CCC mod on my Uni MBP Win7 x64, 2.4GHz C2D, 4GB RAM, 256 DDR3 9600M GT what kind of performance can I expect running at about 720p? Should I opt for Warhead over Crysis since I've heard it's better optimized?

either way you shouldnt expect huge gains in fps over crysis. it mainly optimizes high settings, you might get about 5 extra fps at the same settings on warhead. original crysis is much longer than warhead, though overall i suggest you just buy maximum edition so you get both warhead and crysis.

I asked in the old thread, but I never got an answer as it was closed on the same page I posted xP

I did install Trackmania, and I run it at 1920x1080 no AA but 16x filtering and I get 30fps with that (I use vsync though), if I use 2x AA, it hovers around 24-25, sometimes jumping to 30. Anyone with near my config get the same results?

    Hey guys

    Core i7 1.73 820QM
    GTX 280m
    4gb DDR3 1333ghz

I'm most worried about future games like Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect 2, and heck, why not, Fallout New Vegas (I know I know its far away)

Would this laptop be able to run upcoming games like the above well?

I don't really require maxing out the settings, just that it runs smoothly. How many years would I get with the above specs running games with no problem?

    Thanks

I'm looking to get a Dell Precision M4400 with the NVIDIA Quadro FX 770M. I know that this card will run World of Warcraft fine, but I'm more interested as to what resolution it can push it. I'd like to run Normal to Ultra quality at native resolutions. Does anybody know what the highest resolution I can accomplish that at is?

    1280x800
    1440x900
    1920x1200

I'd like to go at least 1440x900 if I can. Any advice would be appreciated!

Apologies for my first post being a leeching post, but I'm really curious to know if I've wasted money or not. I've pre-ordered Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition without thinking of system specs.

System: Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5800 @ 2.00 GHz
    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT
RAM: 4GB (Looking at similar Pavilion laptops, I believe it is DDR2, 2DIMM)
    Display: 1440x900 WXGA

    Thank you very much!

So I have decided to go with a Sony Vaio laptop.
Either the SR or the new CW.

Will the SR with Intel T6400 2ghz CPU, 4gb RAM and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 512 MB gfx run Call of Duty MW2? I don't mind playing with a fps config.
Or will it be more reasonably to go with the new CW with C2D P7450, GeForce GT230 512mb?

The SR is much sleeker, lighter and has a better design, but the CW is a bit more powerful. Which one should I get? Will the SR even be able to play COD MW2 at all?
