No nver.. this game really requires a dedicated card.. like i have said before , if u want to game , look for a dedicated card for gaming.. the 5700MHD just doesn't cut it.

u should play on native res with most settings on medium... ur CPU is powerful enough but GPU is averagish...

Hi. I am about to order my HP G62 Laptop. The promotion for the descrete ATI HD 4530 graphics card was over so I am now stuck with the Intel HD Graphics and I was wondering if it can play StarCraft 2. The specs of my laptop are:

    CPU: i5-430m 2.26GHz
    RAM: 4 GB DDR3
GPU: Intel HD Graphics with up to 1696MB total available graphics memory
    Display: 1366 x 768

Please offer some information. Would the ATI be able to play much better? The benchmarks on that card was so much higher. Thank you.

I know integrated solutions aren't very good for gaming but for older games like the following titles :

    Age of Empires 3
    Sim City 4
    Torchlight
    Civilisation IV
    Homeworld 2
    Planescape Torment
    Morrowind

I would like to know if those games could run on medium settings on the following specs :

    Gateway NV5321H 15.6"
    AMD Athlon II X2 M300 2GHz
    4GB RAM
    ATI Radeon 4200

Those games will be able to run under Windows 7 right ? Or do I need a special program ?

    Thanks for the help...

HW2 reported to be a real pain to work in Vista, so W7 might be troublesome but it'll run fine if it gets going. Planescape is really old so a virtual machine might be needed if compatibility mode doesn't work. Civ IV is the most demanding game on the list but medium settings should be fine with your set-up.

    Hi , I was looking at either the Dell xps 16 or Asus g51j . I know the 2nd one is good(GTS 360M DDR5!!) , how about dell :

    Processor: I7 Core, 720 ( 1.6Ghz - turbo boost 2.8Ghz) 6M Cache
RAM: 6GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz
HD DISPLAY: Full HD Widescreen 15.6 inch WLED LCD (1920x1080)
    VIDEO CARD: ATI Mobility RADEON® HD 4670 – 1GB

Games i currently plan to play are WoW ( updated gfx next xpac) and FF14 ( think FF11 graphics , just slightly better) . I've never played FF so i cant judge there.

You should be able to play.. it is about the level of a 9600M GT DDR2...

both the dell and G51 should play warcraft and all but the dell will obviously not be able to play on full HD res... it should play on 1600X900 with quite good details but u do need better cards... i recommend Sager NP8690 with ATI 5870 or Asus G73... MSI GX640 is also a good option...

You should be able to run those games just fine no need to worry :p

Well nothing very modern its a IGP which is not meant for games but it will run old games just fine, but what games your looking to play?

The 4200 is pretty powerful for an IGP if I remember correctly, packs more juice than intel's offerings. I'd say you'll be able to run most games at low detail, maybe even medium.

    Hey,

I am just about to buy a Alienware M15x, but I do not know which video card I should select, 1GB ATI Radeon Mobility HD 5850 or the 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M. I'm not worried about the cost even though the NVIDIA card is $50.00 more I just want to get whichever one is the best. So, could any one tell me which video card is better and why without taking into account cost unless they are basically the same then going with the less expensive is obviously smarter.

    Thanks
    Drake

P.S. I tried to look up some reviews on the cards myself and they had some technical graphs and stuff but I didn't really understand them and couldn't tell which one is better so if you could spell it out for instead of just giving me technical stuff that'd be awesome.

Even though the 5850MR in the m15x is rather crippled with GDDR3, it's still a little bit better than 260M, and has dx11.

Uh, no. The 5470 is a lower mid range card, so I'm pitching it at low - medium settings for most games.

As already mentioned, the ATI card is clearly the superior alternative in performance and features. It's an even bigger bonus for the OP since the superior card is $50 cheaper than the more popular but less powerful alternative.

Okay basically just wondering if a Intel GMA X3100 can run games with a requirement of a 256 MB VRAM video card supporting shader model v3.0.

    That is all...

It really depends on what games you are playing. Typically- the X3100 can run old games fine- but don't expect too much from it.

it should be able to... but seriously , why do u want to play shattered horizon? It won the title of most boring game of the century lol...
well , u can get a 5850 and then buy a 5870 GDDR5 from one of the guys on this forum.. he sell's it for $400.. sell ur 5850 for 200 and u get super upgrade for M15x...

no need to be ashamed.. i gamed using a intel desktop P4 GMA for 4 years... anyways , it should run those games.. basically those from 2000 odd to 2006-2007.

I would imagine most iX processors will run SC2, I think the more determining factor is the video card.

I disagree, this is an RTS and those games ALWAYS require a stronger CPU. I am pretty sure you will be able to run it, but those with very nice quad core i7's will be getting better performance.

Graphics won't be the deciding factor for sure. I mean unless the units are made with 10,000 polys each. CPU will be of most importance, and Blizzard never leaves the poor man behind. I bet minimum spec will even be a single core Pentium 4 3.0 GHz and Intel GMA 4500. It runs great on the Alienware M11x with 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo and GT 335m video.

Hi guys and girls im not really a good computer guy i don't know much about this stuff but i like games and i bought this samsung laptop for around 900 buck its supposedly a good laptop. Anyways i know i got a Nvidia GeForce 310m graphics card and that is about all i know and im trying to play Splinter cell conviction, the game starts up and all i put all the setting to low resolution like 600 * 400 something like that and i can play the game for a bit but sometimes the game it just freezes, but it does not crash, if i control alt delete and bring the game back up it works, but its very annoying, i was wondering if it has something to do with my laptop not being powerful enough or the game is just bugged, i bought it from steam, also i can play Left for dead 2 very good if its any comparison.
Sry about the long msg i just really wanna play this game thanks alot if u can help me i really wanna play this game, i might be able to figure out the other info if u guys help me find it, thanks again.

I might be wrong, but iirc, Splinter Cell Conviction is still buggy with some laptop gpus and is prone to crashing and low performance. I have been getting similar errors, although for me, I just get horrible performance (25 fps at 720p. Not even Crysis runs that slowly at high settings...).

If this really is the case, I would recommend waiting for Ubisoft to release a patch for the game, or for nvidia to update their notebook drivers. Sorry I don't have any immediate fixes for you, but I hope that helps atleast a little bit :)

I think someone on the Sony Vaio F11 thread said that the gt 330m (which is slightly slower than the 4670) will play the game ultra settings at 1920x1080 (don't know at what FPS though). Haven't tried this myself, but you should be able to run it for sure. At least 720p with high settings.

Get the Sager.. way better than the asus due to 5870... get the full HD screen too... if u want something cheaper and don't mind 17 inch , Asus G73 is great option.. will also come to 1300-1400 with bing cashback for X3 model... u get i7 quad , 8GB RAM expandable to 16GB and ATI 5870 and 640GB dual 320GB hard drives...

Counter-Strike , L4D2... Modern warfare 2... just to name some.. this isn't a gaming laptop.. more for office work lol..

Is it really worth it to get the i7 rather than say a i5, its $100 more, for games like l4d2, fallout 3, diablo 3(when released)
