Nvidia optimus appeared in Core i3 + GeForce G310m combination. (Asus U30jc) And this combination produce 8 hours battery life.
Is it possible that it will be used with i7 + GTS 360m, GTX260m, etc... ?
It'd be great to have a beast machine to play game on AC power at home. And can also be used for productivity for 8 hours unplugged.

8 hours is never going to happen with a high end card + i7. The Asus U30jc was most likely using the Core i3's integrated graphics which severely reduces power consumption.

It can be done with an i7 also. The Core i7 m620 is a dual core CPU with integrated graphics like i3. For sure, it uses more power than i3, but it is a big plus by disable the high end graphic card. -
It will only work with the dual core Intel Core i7.
Quad core Core i7 lacks the integrated Intel IGP, so it wont work. -
Wait, there's a dual core AND quad core i7? I thought all i7's were quad. i3's and i5's are dual.

the arrandale cores are 2 core "4 logical core" processors via hyperthreading.
the [clarksdale?] i720, 820, 920 are 4 core "8 logical core" processors.
Arrandale has IGP, memory controller onboard. [clarksdale?] does not.
Can Nvidia Optimus be used with high-end gaming laptop?
