I just watched the news. It appears that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has preordered a PS4 from a undisclosed retailer. A U.N. Watch dog group has discovered plans to jailbreak and overclock the PS4 to full power to weaponize it. We can only pray they send him a U.S. 110v version with no adapter. If not may god help us all and our children's children forgive us.

As the saying goes.. Any sufficiently advanced technology will be indistinguishable from magic.

..In 2013, "sufficiently advanced" is apparently a design from the 70s.

Umm...you do realize the Playstation 3 is better than your phone, plus actually designed to be good for playing games, plus you can actually BUY/own games for it, right?

I was initially a bit disappointed by the Playstation 3's hardware...wished it had had a Geforce 8800GT (as though Sony needed to lose even more money per unit on it LOL). But it became obvious over the years it was a really nice level of power. Insomniac and Naughty Dog's games in particular continue to impress me even graphically, which surprised me.

It's weird...until recently having a Playstation 3/Xbox 360 class GPU was fine for games. I'm not sure how many games are now having issues, but to me Star Wars: The New Republic is kinda unplayable on my Geforce 9650m GT. I'm actually not sure why...graphically it's not really that impressive...I mean it's fine, but tons of games look as good or better and run fine. So not sure if it's just that game or a lot of games now have issues.

I coasted a LOOOONG time on a Geforce 4 also, which was a better than Xbox 1 class GPU, and I think for the same reason was useful for years (even if you might want something better).

So it really seems like the 680m/7970m should last for a few more years, at the very least, and be comparable to consoles for the most part. still, i'll probably buy a console too since they are great bang for your buck gaming machines, even if after a few years they are completely outdated.

Sorry no the PS3 is not better then my phone. For one my phone runs games at 1080 not up converts at 720. Its still just like 2 games but it still does it so ha. Then my phone has a ir blaster and i can use it for a remote. It can provide its own 4g internet. I can buy and own games for my phone. I can use a kb and mouse. I can plug my otg cable in with a hub and use a computer kb, mouse and some jump drivers or if i use a powered hub plug a 3tb hdd in it. I can take pictures with it, go on the real internet. I could go on all day about why my phones better then the ps3 but its pointless that's like saying my laptop is better then my gamboy because.

Oh wait i forgot about the mystical powers that the PS3 has. When i was in Afghanistan we were clearing some caves around Khost and found some al qaeda attempting to mobilize and reverse engineer some PS3's. One of them yelled "Sony Akbar!" and he ran at us but lucky for us we had our PS3 80gb with lunix on it and had it divide by 0 and not only did it take him out but it killed bin laden. We had to blame it on Navy SEALS because the world just cant find out we were using PS3's since that's a warcrime.

It most likely is up-converting games, but regardless, it's running much simpler games.

I hope you're not being serious. Obviously the Playstation 3 could run those games at 1080p also, and has more than 2 games that run at 1080p.

Which has what to do with running games?

Not aware of any save for possibly the Humble Indie Bundle stuff for Android (and not even sure about those as they have some kind of installer).

Adreno 320 makes PS3 fanboys go Boohoo its in a cell phone it cant be fast. Well they are catching up fast u mad brah? And wait till games use the Unreal engine. Because that tech demo is awesome. Its ok to be a fanboy just think that pile of crap PS3 you are so in love with in 15 years will be cool again and you can play it as "retro" in your skinny pants with all your hipster friends.

Let me know when mobile phones have a CPU that is capable of beating the Cell. Or when you get to play mobile games with more than 1 tree and some grass here and there. Its a big difference of playing Tetris in 1080p and Skyrim in 1080p...

Erm, not quite sir. There have been some considerable advancements in mobile GPU's, but in terms of raw processing capability (Floating Point, Pixel Fill Rate), the Adreno 320 and even the iPad 4's PowerVGR SGX554 GPUs are only comparable to an integrated Intel graphics chip used in the second generation Intel Atom CPUs (GMA 3650). OpenGL ES 2.0 is still nowhere as capable as Direct3D, much less DirectX in its current state.

And we're done here; apparently the topic has no more substance.
