At any settings at all? With the Steam Sale on, i'm considering a few titles and Skyrim is one of them but im really not sure if my laptop will be able to play it (at any settings). Anyone got any experience and can let me know what sort of FPS and Graphics settings you get

    Cheers guys :)

It should be playable at mediumish settings. You will probably see some FPS dips but it should hover around 25-30ish FPS, some people think thats playable some people dont so its really up to you!

I played Skyrim on a DV6 with a first gen i3 (2.4 ghz),5650 mobility, and 720p screen with FPS in the 30's. I will try to update what settings I used when I can. It looked OK. Playable but not great.

Edit - actually the above link to notebook check shows you exactly what to expect.

Like what RefinedPower said, I have a laptop with the exact same specs with 720p screen and back when Skyrim came out I played it on high, but got better FPS on medium, it was still playable on high though...

Thanks very much for the help everyone! I know the 5650 card in the Envy is a bit gimaped, it has the lowest clockspeed or something like that, so I wasn't sure. I already own Skyrim on my PS3 but seeing as I hardly play that these days, that's why I was wondering if my laptop could handle it, that's also why im not too fussed by graphics quality, I don't think PS3 Skyrim is set particularly high

    Thanks again though :)

P.s. It's in the Steam Sale for the next few hours @ 40% off the Legendary edition

I think the PS3 settings are 720p at medium highish specs so its probably comparable to what your laptop will run.

the thing about the PC version though is it adds the ability to install user mods which really extend the life of the game.

make sure to turn off AA and use FXAA instead.

Most of the settings for skyrim don't have much impact on frame rate, but AA is one of the ones that does. Kouroush Ghazi's tweak guide is pretty detailed about the impact of various settings on frame rate, but it's slightly outdated as the game has been patched several times.
