You cannot upgrade the G6's graphics.

nope you cannot :( 6GB is more than enough for gaming, but you can boost windows performance with an SSD, an SSD is the best possible pc upgrade on the block, however it doesn't contribute (well, negligible) to gaming...

95% of laptops have soldered GPU's and cannot be upgraded. The Sandy Bridge CPU's have GPU on die, but still it cannot be upgraded, unless another G6 model offered discreet graphics, you would need a new motherboard/heatsink and that would not be cost efficient. Your best bet is to sell your current laptop and buy one that has discreet graphics or turn down the settings. HD 3000 should be fine for alot of less demanding titles. I was able to play TF2 @ 1280x720 on medium with no lag issues. COD should be playable if it is turned down, MW3 is based of MW2 engine, unless you are talking about Black Ops.

You could swap in a motherboard for your G6 that includes a discrete gpu. I did a similar thing to my old DV5. I swapped from a board that had an AMD cpu with integrated graphics on the mobo to a board that used an Intel cpu with an Nvidia 9600M GT. Gaming was much more enjoyable. But, its not for everyone. Just thought id mention it.

With the new Ivy Bridge and next gen graphics coming in about one to two months' time, I would suggest that you save up some money and buy a new laptop capable of gaming. Meanwhile try to bear with the G6, and sell it after you get the new one.

Try to install the mod "optimine"

Optimine can boost the FPS and the stability of the game.

I use it, it really does boost FPS
