I have go 6100 on my Primary laptop.

Can that thing be overclocked by any software?

IF not then can you recommend me a SW for o'clocking my processor.

Its all for Gaming anyway... hence i posted here

Overclocking and laptops do not mix well, if at all. Not to mention that you aren't going to gain much in power...

Not entirely true up to an extent. I overclocked my GPU 150mhz above the stock clock and noticed almost 10 fps improvement in Crysis and 4 fps improvement in Counter Strike.

But then again, all GFX are made differently.

    okay good..

But can u recommend me a software for overclocking?

I ll do it at my own risk..

If i burn up the motherboard...good for me...i am fed up of my n00b GFX anyway.

That is not an overclock, that is changing the amount of memory shared with the GPU.

I believe that OmegaDrivers have built in OC facilities. However, you will not see much boost in performance as the Geforce 6100m is a very weak card. I suppose it is good experience if you don't mind destroying your laptop.

That is because your GPU is a 8400m, which is much more powerful than the 6100m, and therefore an overclock will yield more results.

If you don't believe me, then look at this example:
For the sake of simplicity, assume that the 6100m scores 500 in 3DMark05. If you overclock it by say, 10%, your 3DMark05 score might become 550, and increase of 50 points. On your 8400m, you might score 4000 in 3DMark05. Overclock by 10%, and you might get 4400, an increase of 400 points. Therefore, in this example, a 10% OC on a 8400m is 8 times as effective as an OC on a 6100m.

    That's a good analogy. :D

Integrated graphics are often held back by hardware limitations, such as a lack of onboard vRAM and lack of hardware T&L. I'm not sure if it applies to the 6100, but you will not likely see much of a performance difference if you did overclock.

Have you tried using Rivatuner and the latest nvidia drivers?

Even if you can OC a integrated card, you wont get very far with it. I suggest leaving it as it is

My M10 integrated GPU OCed very well for 9 months. On day I noticed colored alphanumerics all over the dos boot screen..and beyond. GPU fried and $220 which included shipping ;) This was last century.

Try nTunes or RivaTuner...but agree with others, not worth it.

    1) Yes, it can. But you'd still get a LOUSY gaming performance... In other words, you would see no real improvements from the OC...

    2) Yes, you're able to OC your cpu as well. And if you want more info about how to do it, please take a look on my OC'ing Guide (the link is at my sign).

    Cheers.

Couldnt agree more ! Its not like OCing an intergrated card is going run any modern games. Just leave it :)
