Im bit of a noob with this sort of thing, and just bought a new laptop and want to play some games.

Will my laptop handle L.A Noire?
    4GB RAM, Windows 7

    AMD Radeon HD 7340M , Internal DAC (400MHz), Direct X 11,Toshiba,1.7GHz

    thoughts?

Oh and if not, (or either way) What kind of games should I be looking at that it will be able to handle that are good? How would Mafia 2 go?

    Thanks

I suppose it should handle L.A. Noire just fine on low-med settings.

LA Noire is a very strange game. I had the same performance on High as on Low.

Pretty sure it's internally limited to 30 fps, and that's the reason you experienced this.

Thing is, it lags the same... And yes I know about the frame limiter. The game could be unlocked to 60FPS, but on lower performance machines like mine it would be very unstable.

    I don't think so. My 8800mgts couldn't get more than 15 fps.

Unfortunately the answer is a clear NO. This AMD 7340 is an integrated chip which is not even close to the performance of Intel's HD 3000.

It's not going to run any modern games.

Could be a CPU limitation, then. If I recall correctly, the recommended spec is a midrange quad core.

L.A. Noire is a pretty picky game. It runs great for me but even a lot of people who meet the necessary specs have issues. I don't know that I'd risk it with your card unless you can get the game super cheap.

The GPU is fine really, for most if not all games! But in logic intensive scenarios, the CPU could bottleneck your performance. This might even happen to some extent in L.A. Noire. All in all, I think it's a decent enough config for a mid-level gaming system! :)

Why don't you post in "what notebook should I buy"? section and wait a week. You can likely find a great deal for less than $1000 that would perform better or similarly than that laptop. For $1000 you can find any laptop with a 650m, possibly even 660m which will be worlds better than the 7670m GPU.

If you "just bought" this laptop, is a return not possible?
