With my low end 780M GTXs in SLI, will I be able to play GTA V at max quality options @ the native resolution of my screen? (specs in sig)
just pre-purchased it and am waiting for it to be released

If that's a low end spec machine, I'm well screwed... I only have a single 780m...

Nah, you need Titan X in quad-SLI. 48GB's of VRAM will help a lot.

Off course I am serious, on cloud gate benchmark I see 45 fps so that makes me think I might not be able to handle the latest games. And when I say by my low end specs well, the 989m SLI BLOWS MY 780M out of the water so it's a valid questions
So what do u think now, would my setup be able to play at max graphical settings at 60 fps ? -
Starlight5 Yes, I'm a cat. What else is there to say, really?
I'll try to run it on mine, just for laughs. Would be fun if it launchs at all.

Oh OP, you're so insecure...
Now I wonder, if 780m SLI is low end, what the hell is my 240m... No end? Dead end? -
You consider that low end? What about my old laptop with a Nvidia 8600M GT 256mb?

Seriously @Matrix Leader6.. Dude really? Your 780M SLI burns my low end 970M and your worried?
I'm quite sure the 780M SLI or even the 970M can easily handle the recommended requirements for GTA IV
Indeed.. it's a dead end.. The game won't even open on a 240M
It is the end

thanks matey, wasn't sure, just wanted to be 100% that it'll run fine as when I look at the 3DMark test, some of the tests make my FPS dip down to 30 FPS or even lower so I was concerned maybe in games certain scenes would also make the performance suck -
Nothing low end about a 780m SLI..they still kain.. hard.. cmon man.. take it out the shrink wrap and overclock
Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
Low end by no means, it performs about the same as a 980M which is no joke.

I had an ASUS G751JY a while back which had a 980M and the scores of the 780M in SLI are about 10% higher but that's no fair comparison I'm almost certain a 980M SLI would blow the 780Ms out of the water right? -

I have GELID EXTREME Thermal Compound on both the GPUs but I don't know how to overclock or what's a safe overclock. I'm a big n00bie when it comes to overclocking -

There's only one way to find out. I will try it eventually

no, I was eager to get an answer from your PROs as the waiting is killing me. but instead, got 0 helpful replies except from Mr. Tommy
PS: I'll add you to the ignore list so I never see your posts again. -
I think no one really has a good idea yet, but come 4:00PST we shall have a more definite answer. My guess is you may have to drop the detail settings down to mostly high with some concessions made on AA but you should be generally good.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.

Look at the way I look at this. The game is about to be released, tomorrow or something to be exact. You already have game pre-purchased, so what's the problem? It's not even a question like "I am thinking about buying this game, but I own a laptop with borderline specs, so I'm not sure if my laptop will be able to run it?"
When I'm not sure if I am able to run one or another game, guess what I do, I demo it!
Exhibit A: The Evil Within. Downloaded the demo, game doesn't launch, no buy, move along.
Exhibit B: Cities: Skylines. No official demo available, so had to revert to not so kosher methods of demoing (sorry for mentioning this unorthodox method mods!). Dowloaded, installed, played for a couple of hours, liked what I saw. bought it!
But it your case we even aren't talking about this. You have 780m SLI for Pete's sake, of course it's gonna run on high or close enough to it, and you already have the game, why speculate when you can try it out yourself? Tomorrow!
What you do now is chill, wait till tomorrow, launch the game, set graphics preset to whatever your expectations are, start a new game. Then see how it performs, tweak your settings until you get FPS/visual results to your liking. You probably won't be able to run it on ultra with playable framerate, but you don't need that, unless you want to brag about it. Lower AA, dunno, shadows...something. Judging by screenshots GTA V has a very extensive graphical options menu, so you'll figure that out.
See how easy it is? Was it really worth a thread?hfm and Mr Najsman like this. -
Come on, Ferris. The system requirements have been out for months so you know where you stand. I expected better of you.
BTW I agree with @killkenny1 that this is some good troll bait. So add me to your ignore list why dontcha.

This is a troll thread. But my post gets deleted...
/distressed princess/ Ermagerd! My 780m SLI rig is so low end... what shall I ever do?! /end distressed princess/
Send it to me, I'll take that piece of junk off your hands for you.
You better just throw it into the fire or find out if it will blend, because it's totally worthless. Can't play GTA V on mega ultra high textures at 4k.Last edited: Apr 13, 2015Starlight5, octiceps and karasahin like this. -
You know the really sad thing is, this is actually kind of believable when you consider past history.
Actually knowing the OP, I do tend to believe he's being sincere and not trying to troll.
FWIW I also referred to my 780M SLI machine as being "outdated" a couple times, but obvious hyperbole.TomJGX and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

Exactly, why would I be trolling my own thread / machine...... I just asked becuase the 780M is a 2 year old Graphics card and is 2 generations behind now......very valid question...... -
"Low end" is the troll trigger. Two year old top end does not equal "low end" by any means, especially in SLI, which outperforms a single 980m. Owning a $4000 gaming machine I would think you'd know what you own and what the performance is like, especially with full specs laid out in your signature.
hfm, MahmoudDewy, Mr Najsman and 1 other person like this. -
2 years old means little when Nvidia basically sat on its green ogre butt and did nothing for over a year (880M anyone?) before releasing Maxwell 2 at the end of 2014. So in essence you are only 1 generation behind, and the fact that you have SLI of that generation's flagship (which is over twice the GPU that GTA V recommends) means this thread is really just drama.
But...but...VRAM doesn't stack in SLI. Whatever are we to do! :\Last edited by a moderator: Apr 14, 2015hfm, TomJGX, Mr Najsman and 1 other person like this. -
Guys, calling the OP a troll is against the forum rules, any more talk about it and the infractions go out. Be nice, thanks!

1. Acquire X99+DDR4
2. Overclock DDR4 to 7GHz
3. ???
4. Profit!
Granted you'll probably have to have a big tank of LN2 nearby when you play this game, but IT WILL BE SO WORTH IT.

Fine.

Right on. Going for that Iris Pro world record. Should be easy since I'll probably be the only one.

All fine. The perhaps the thread needs to be closed because OP's "concern" has been answered tenfold and there's already a thriving GTA V thread and the game's been released.katalin_2003 likes this.

I was going to leave it in case the OP had any other questions but to prevent it from getting any messier, I am going to do just that.
OP, if you have anything to add, the GTA V thread is there for you to use.
Can my low end laptop handle GTA V?
