Hmm I didn't have this problem before I downgraded to vista but now i can only game when i have my lappy plugged in. Take for example wow, I get 17 fps when I do not have it plugged in but it jumps to 90 when I do plug it in.
Any1 know what might be causing the problem?

I'm guessing the power-save mode on your machine. Once you are running on battery, it chooses a different profile. Generally it dims the screen, and cuts the power to various components.
Don't know how Vista does it as I use XP, but simply make your "running on battery" profile the same as your "running on mains power" profile (eg. everything running at max) and your issues should disappear..
Your battery won't last very long though xD -
If You use Windows XP:
Control Panel/Power Options/Power Schemes and in the Power schemes menu select Always On or Minimal Power Management.
In Vista:
Control Panel/Power Options and select High Performance.
For both systems go to the graphics driver options and select max performance on battery or something like that.
Can only game on battery power?
