why dont more people OC the shader? i see a lot of people just doing core/memory yet i see the biggest gains in peformance when i OC the shader seperate on my 8700mGT? (300-400 boost in 3dmarks)

Maybe a lot of people aren't aware of it. Most GPU overclocking stuff only refers to the core and memory clocks.

but u have an advantage in gaining more performance by doing the shaders seperate ;\

I know my friend but if people don't know about shader clocks then they won't overclock them :p

The shader clock is usually linked with the core clock (and runs at twice the clock) unless you manually undo that. People don't mention the shader clock when overclocking because
    a) older cards dont have this option or
    b) because it's linked with the core clock and people keep it that way

For example I might overclock my 8400M GS (400/800/500) to 600/1200/750, but I could just say I went from 400/500 to 600/750 and not mention the shader clock.

i guess that answers the question - but people need to be more knowledgable about shader clocks then becuz i just ran 3dmarks with 750/975 with auto shaders and got 5670, then i do shader manually and go with 750/1675/975 and got 6350 :D ... thats quite a boost frmo just manually adjusting my shader
