Sorry if this is the wrong place.

According to NotebookCheck, the GT 130M cannot do hardware PhysX, but I've heard the slightly slower 9600M GT can do PhysX.

Is that true? I've heard NotebookCheck does not have reliable information.

All the cards with at least 256MB from 8-series and onwards can do PhysX. The question is if it is playable to use PhysX when you have a low or a medium end GPU like the GT130M. My card can do PhysX but if you enable it in games, the fps just drop massively. So, that's why they suggested to use PhysX only if you have two GPUs with this card so you can use one solely for PhysX and the other for the graphics, which is a fair point. Only the high end cards are powerful enough to use PhysX and graphics on one card since their fps usually are over 100 fps even in high settings and resolutions. I guess that's what they meant

it does, but not good enough to push out playable framerate.

My 8600M GS with 256MB doesn't allow hardware PhysX. Only software.

When glass shatters in Mirror's Edge, your GT 130M will shatter along with it. True story.

You might need to update your drivers.
My ForceWare 175.84 doesn't support it but my 185.something does.

..or am I confusing PhysX with CUDA?

All nvidia DX10 cards are able to do it but nvidia officially only released it for the G94/G92 and the GTS/GTX series You can mod the .inf files of those physX drivers to support the other cards and it works. I tried it on my 8600M GT

PhysX is made with CUDA IIRC

I used nVidia notebook drivers, and they messed up my laptop, and because I was experiencing performance problems then, I did a reformat.

Where are those files and how can I modify them?

Is it better to have physx disabled even when playing more cpu dependent games like tf2? Cause i think my cpu is already under quite a load without adding physx when playing a source game.

I thought PhysX was supposed to off-load some processing from the CPU to the GPU, but I don't think that many programs/games support it yet.

I updated my drivers. Now that the PhysX control is in the Control Panel, I can't have all those old options!

And I can't enable hardware PhysX again. What can I do?

OK, I found the old control panel and I enabled GeForce PhysX, but it does not work on games. Why?

Haha, I agree. I enabled it for 8600m GT in that game, when glass shattered the game dropped down to 6 fps.

It only works with games that support PhysX and it has to be enabled in game.

I tested it on Switchball, and the option for PhysX is still disabled.

Edit: Tried the nVidia PhysX Particle Fluid Demo, and it allowed hardware, but it was very slow. :p

It seems to work in my games... even on high , framerates are 20+... but seriosuly , u need to have low res with cards like that... on full HD res , GT130M would shatter...

I played Mirror's Edge with an 8600M GS with PhysX enabled. On 1280x800, everything "High", AA off, and PhysX enabled.

Was able to play at around 20-25 fps with all the PhysX enhancements.

PhysX = useless on notebooks. :(
I used to have a old Nvidia Geforce 9800 something that my friend gave me, coupeled it with ATI HD 4770 CrossfireX madness and after some driver tweaking and Windows 7 i could play Mirrors Edge with PhysX enabled.
But after that it was pretty much useless, so i gave it to my other friend.
Now the 9800 lives happily powering Flight Sim X. :p

Only normal notebooks, not crazy ones :p

PhysX is only found in Unreal Engine 3 games, and even then it is up to the developer if they wish to pursue GPU PhysX support. As stated earlier, GPU PhysX will absolutely murder your framerate, and you will be forced to decrease/disable eye candy in order to allow hardware PhysX. The solution to this is either an SLi setup, or a solo GPU + dedicated PhysX PPU that's a graphics card. Option #2 works really good, even in a mobile environment (I've tested it). For the record, PhysX = CUDA.

I would like to take this opportunity to state that the portion of your post above highlighted in bold is complete nonsense. In fact, it is so nonsensical, that I will eat your GPU for breakfast in the form of Corn Flakes if you prove me wrong. Good day sir.
