Hi, I am thinking about getting the lenovo ideapad s12 when the Nvidia Ion version comes out this month. Would this system be able to play The Sims 3?

No, the Intel Atom CPU is not powerful enough.

You sure about that? I mean, judging from the specs, The Sims 3 looks pretty similar to The Sims 2 in terms of power hungriness(just slightly more) and I could run The Sims 2 on an Intel Celeron. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Atom should be not too far from the Celeron no(IIRC well it was said to be near P4)?

i very much doubt it with only 1gb of memory.
also it only has Intel integrated GMA 950 graphics, which i dont think will be nearly enough either.
you wil have to wait for the others to reply to find out what alternatvie small laptops will do the job for you in the same price bracket. im a little out of touch -

^ He's asking about the Ion version which will have Nvidia 9400M graphics. (65 nm is a bit outdated IMO...they should make a 40nm or 32nm IGP)
I think it will also take a bit of CPU power to play the Sims 3 as well. Guessing at low settings it should run it (Since many people who want TS3 run theirs on single core and integrated graphics) -
