The game requires Shader 3.0, I was wondering if this video card has it (ATI Mobility Radeon x700)? I don't want to waste a few days downloading 8 gbs and find out my computer can't handle it :(

    Thanks!

It can't handle shader model 3 no, but I think it will default to Shader Model 1.1 instead. So you'll be able to play it still, just not with all the fancy graphics on.

This is a bit of a yes/no question. Yes, TECHNICALLY it CAN play Splinter Cell: Double Agent, but then again, it depends on what you consider to be PLAYABLE. Double Agent is a very (and strangely) demanding game and will most likely kill your X700, much like it killed a dual core 7900GTX system.

My recommendation is to play Chaos Theory, as it is less demanding. If you have it and have finished it, then just get a demo for Double Agent. Hope this helps.

EDIT: Scratch that, you can only run Chaos Theory. Shader Model 3.0 is REQUIRED for Double Agent, though I don't see the point. I doesn't look THAT much better than Chaos Theory.

No you cannot play it because it doesn't support SM 3.0.
I treid 1 million times but no, you just can't play it, stupid Ubisoft.

That really sucks. The entire older X generation of cards don't support SM3 so even with a powerful card like an X850 or something, you could be running other games on high settings, whilst you can't even start Splinter cell!

Yeah, that was a really bad move IMO. I downloaded the demo, and it wasn't even that impressive. The water looked like crap, and in the demo at least, shadows were rare anyway. And that was at max settings. I don't see all the fuss.

    Yeah.

I think that these game developers are riding a little too high on their horses. If they contiune to exclude the 80% of their market that does not have the absolute latest and most up-to-date hardware they will crumble. Ha and me along with my little X700 will laugh!!

Ubisoft you suck... and so do most of your games. Yeah that includes Far Cry, without the graphics it's nothing but a B-Movie starring Chuck Norris or Steven Segal.

ps 3.0 is going to haunt you a lot. ps 3.0 exists in both xbox 360 and ps3 consoles.

ps 2.0 is computers only now. Its going to be too small a customer base to write the games for.
