this is not a gaming machine but I put this under games BECAUSE I will be buying it based on if it can run those 2 games on at least Medium settings, What I am really worried about is the graphics processor on it. I like it because its super small and easy to carry. But I do wan't to run FFXI and wow (Mostly FFXI)

If it can't (Mostly because of the lack of a DvD drive i think...) Then any 12 inch computer that can for under 600 bucks that you could show me would be nice Thanks!

I highly doubt it epspecially at medium settings, but am not positive. Its gotta suck raiding for hours on a 9 inch screen though.

The problem I have with that laptop Gophn is the fact it comes with Vista, Buying XP alone costs about 120 bucks...Thats why I really need one that comes with xp, NOW if there is a site where people build laptops from scratch and they send it to your home and stuff for cheep id like to know about that so I can build one there with xp.

    - netbook?
    - ultraportable?

portable as hell would be great...i posted on the looking for notebook topics already. small 13 inches or smaller. Portable under 650 bucks. able to run those 2 games decently. (preferably FFXI)

If i Cant find a notebook for that price I can always get a desktop for that money. To me its ether ultra small and portable or might as well get a desktop because I already have a 15.1 inch notebook with 4 gigs of ram windows vista and a Nvidia 8600M GT 256. So.... I just want something lighter and smaller that can run my old games. If not I may as well buy a desktop.

if you wait a bit, Q4 2008 will have some more powerful (so to speak) netbooks... with Intel X3100 and even ATI HD X3200.... and dual-core Intel Atom CPUs and such.

If the slow Atom processor doesn't become a bottleneck this netbook should play WOW and FFXI fluidly at 1024x640 on low (maybe even medium but not sure). It hasn't been released yet and I haven't seen any performance figures and its price is a above your stated budget at list price $850. Personally I would build a decent desktop since you already have a semi portable laptop or else wait a few months.

You need something higher than an X3100 for FFXI for sure... my friend tried playing it on his laptop with an Intel IGP and it ran badly and had really glitchy graphics.

gaming on a netbook? Well with WoW turned to low it will run, but will lag pretty bad. I used to run WoW on a 200m, which is stronger then a 950GMA and with a stronger CPU and in big cities I would see 10-20 FPS depending on the amount of people.

You will generally have to pay more for powerful netbooks because the technology is really shrunk down.
I paid £650/$1140 for the laptop in my sig and it plays CoD4 med@~33FPS and my other games maxed. So it's a fairly powerful 12.1" lappy.
I recon if you really hunted around you could find a decent one for ~$850, and I recommend no smaller than a 12.1" for gaming for obvious reasons.
A real plus about small screens though is that you can set them to resolutions like 1024x640 and they still look great. And 800x600 doesnt look too bad.
    Hope this helps :)
