X700 should run just about anything out there now just fine.

I did a bunch of game tests with my new Sager - has an X700. There's a link to the performance section in my review - link's in my signature. ;)

Awesome review Chaz, very thorough and informative. You probably should mention though that your review/notebook is equipped with the 256MB X700 and not the 128MB version.

If it's the 64mb version, like mine, you should be able to run just about anything, but high-end games will likely have to be run on medium quality. I can play Far Cry on medium/high settings consistently... varying by level, I can get up to full quality, or drop to 800x600. Your laptop has pretty well the exact same specs as mine... is it by any chance the Acer Aspire 1694? It's a great laptop... but if you buy from NCIX, it comes with the 64mb card (although the deal is awesome). The 128mb card will probably play anything out right now, especially if you update the driver.

*edit: Forgot to mention that updating to ATI's Catalyst 5.10 is essential for the 64mb card, if that's what you're getting. Best of luck :)

    Thanks :)

Yeah - I put that it was a 256MB card under the 3DMark05 heading:

Note: All benchmarks performed with default video card clocks of 350/350 (core/memory). GPU (ATI M26) uses 256MB of GDDR2 memory. Drivers used: ATI Mobility Catalyst 5.10 –stock.

Well i have an Asus W2V with the ATI X700, but Age of Empires III is to heavy.
I have to take back some setting for better play.
I had everything on high ore very high :) but that was too much.

I have a DV4000 with the x700 and a Pentium M 2.0. I run Half-Life 2/Couter-Strike:Source with rather high settings and still get nice framerates.

I just upgraded my RAM to 2GB - now I can play:

    CS:S at 1680x1050, 4X AA, 8X AF, max. settings at 46FPS average

    Far Cry: 1680x1050, "Very High", 8X AF - 36FPS

    FEAR: 800x600, "Maximum", 4X AF -43FPS
