When your using FRAPS to measure FPS can you take a loss in FPS when FRAPS is activated? I'm pretty sure when recording video but what about when its just measuring FPS? Thanks for the responses.

No you dont lose fps

FRAPS is such a small program, unless you're measuring Solitaire on a Pentium 1 with 12 MB of RAM, it's not going to do anything.
-
has it ever been known to interfere with games because Just cause 2 kept crashing on my M15x and it was driving me crazy

well i noticed that for me Metro 2033, and Stalker COP both crash if I try to run FRAPS, maybe for those games it has something to do with DX11? I don't know but those are the only two games that it affects for me.

You would probably lose 1 frame at the most, while it's not recording.
-
It depends how you have it set and what processor you have, for me I've seen it take about 3 frames off various games and sometimes it glitches and screws the whole thing over.
It's not too bad though. -

FRAPS definitely CAN cause slowdowns...
- Major slowdowns when recording
- usually marginal slowdowns when not recording
- sometimes significant slowdowns or unusual behavior when not recording -

I use Rivatuner to show fps in game but I have never had any problems with Fraps.
