    Hi guys!

    Recently, I made a post asking whether should or shouldn't OC my HD 5730. I have leaned towards OC'ing it. Anyways, now, I face 2 problems :

    1) ATi Tool tells me "It doesn't detect my video drivers"; MSI Afterburner doesn't let me go more than 650/800 MHz ( stock speeds ); Rivatuner has the same problem as ATi tool. Tho, when I had 10.9, it detected, and could OC. I have googled a lot, and couldn't find 10.9 mobility drivers, can some one link me please?

    2) Temps are different after my PC formatting. It showed 81ºC while playing Metro 2033, and now shows 75ºC. Which read should I trust? Tho, my PC, somehow, is cooler ( when I put my hand near the vent ).

    EDIT : It worked. But when I set the memory clock to 900MHz, my screen started flashing with red and blue squares all over the place. Tho, when I set to 750MHz of core, it was OK. Could you tell me the reason of that happening? The temp was at 55ºC...?

    ati5830.png

    (stock for 5830 is 500/800)

    if 10.11 doesn't work and you can't find 10.9, i have 10.8. just pm me if you want it.

    i don't OC to game. actually i don't OC at all really. i use amd clock tool to boost the clocks (back to stock) when watching a movie on battery. i can say that a temp decrease after a clean install is consistent with what i saw when i did mine. my gpu temps for fallout 3 before my clean install were ~75C and after are ~70C.

    edit: give me a few minutes and i can tell you what the temp difference between stock and OC is...

    Oh, ok. I just wanna know, if I update my drivers, will the fixes and improvements stay? Or will they be erased from driver update to driver update?

    ok, here are my temps for fallout 3

    stock (500/800)
    stock.png
    max = 70C

    OC (550/900)
    OC.png
    max = 73C

    so... a 3C increase

    as far as fixes/improvements, i can't say.

    Hi
    Thanks for those screens! But could you post your temps with a heavy game like crysis? There is a free demo out there, could you do it please?

    well, since you asked nicely, i'll see what i can do. ;)

    maybe the gpu is OCed past its capabilities? i'm not too sure. try 850MHz for the memory.

    Try overvolting if that's an option. I don't know about that card.

    If your screen is flashing you went too high, temperature =/= stability, I can throw my card to 2000mhz and it'll flash and it might still stay at 60C... they're unrelated.

    @ Ruckus

    could you tell me where to download ATI Overdrive? I can only find AMD Overdrive (primarily for AMD CPUs, it seems) and cannot find a download for mobility GPUs.

    Artifact is what happens when you push a card to hard, the useage and tempature can be irrevelant. Back during my PC days I had a buddy a buy a nividia card OC'd from the factory (sorry can't remeber what manufacture) and it ran cool enough, and the utilization was normal but graphics did all sorts of strange things but the games would still play relatively fine in relation.

    Weird... seeker_moc ( a great, helpful forum user :D ), has 815/1067, and he said he has no problems... I still can't figure out why I had these... I think I will only OC the core to 750 ( or 800 ) and memory to 850, which was stable. Will try 10 by 10 tho, to see if it works out.

    PS : If I have artifacts again, will there be any damage? If like this : OC to 900-> artifacts. I change to stock right away, Artifacts disappear. BUT, what if artifacts persist? Even in stock?
