    I had this problem before too and I remember that it had been working fine and then all of a sudden it stopped. I had to modify either the shortcut or the cfg file to make the console open whenever the game started. Give me a moment and I'll find out which one...
    And it is something to do with vista x64

    I don't have it installed right now, but if you right click the icon you use to open it and go to properties, in the target box add -DEVMODE to the end and see if that works.

    you should just have to put -DEVMODE at the end of the target in the shortcut properties.

    by the way, the ~ is called tilde

    Try going into the program files folder for crysis and create a desktop shortcut from there here's the default file path location...
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin64\Crysis.exe"
    right click on the crysis application and send to desktop(create shortcut) and you should be able to edit the target on that one.

    No problem. I just installed it again on mine and since it doesn't make a desktop shortcut I went to the games explorer and copied that one. Well it had the same problem as yours did so I went and grabbed the one from the program files and tested it and it worked.

    Okay great it works, now I can see my fps, does DEVMODE effect the game in any other way? also the new shortcut I made, when you right click on it, it doesnt give you the option to play in dx10 or dx9. Lastly yes i can see my fps but the console still doesnt work, does it work for you when you do this?

    Sorry for all of the questions..

    The dev mode opens the console menu by default. If you are looking for the console when you can enter commands in crysis doesn't have that that I know it. If you are wanting to do cheats you have to edit the diff_xxxx.cfg(xxxx being easy, medium, hard, etc). Hope that helps.

    And I've never seen the option in mine to change between dx9 and dx10 before or after the -DEVMODE. As far as I know the -DEVMODE just forces the game to open running the console(which is where your fps is showing)

    You need to put a space between \Crysis.exe" and -DEVMODE

    on your desktop right click on the shortcut and it should say something like
    "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin32\Crysis.exe"
    it's doesn't have to be exactly this mut you must put a SPACE between the last " and the -DEVMODE like this:
    "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin32\Crysis.exe" -DEVMODE
    also mine won't bring up the console either but I have tried it
    I haven't tried it yet since I re-patched it with version 1.2 and hotfix or something like that (hot-somehting I' know) version 1.2.1
    but I'll go see if that's the problem
    I'm currently running on Vista 32bit and it doesn't work for me so I'll go try
    if you just want to see your FPS go to the path
    C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Game\Config
    and select the difficulty you're playing on, cut that file and take to somewhere BESIDES THE ELECTRONICARTS files otherwise it won't let you modify it, go to the bottom and type in
    r_displayinfo = 1
    and if you want some cheats type in
    g_godMode = 1
    i_noweaponlimit = 1
    i_unlimitedammo = 1
    have fun
    :)

    I know this sounds crazy, but this fix has worked for me with fallout/oblivion console, and should work for crysis. Open device manager, click human interface devices, and uninstall microsoft ehome infrared. This is the expresscard remote, which I think the dv5 has too. It'll reinstall itself everytime you restart though (if the remote is connected). Have no idea why, but this fixes the console for a few games lol.

    Now, now, now, calm down. You got Vista? Tell this to every person you know that has a problem with their console, because I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.
    This only works if you have Vista.

    Step 1: Open Registry Editor (Start -> Type "regedit" in the search box -> click on the entry)
    [IMG]
    (Look at the red and blue circles: type regedit into the red circle and then click on the blue circle.)
    Step 2: Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\Parameters
    [IMG]
    Step 3: Find the entry named OverrideKeyboardSubtype with REG_DWORD as the type.
    Step 4: Change the value (should be 2 currently) to 0
    Step 5: Load up Crysis and enjoy the fireworks!

    Ideas: Go to the beginning of Contact, type "e_time_of_day 12" without the quotes.
    Then watch the Aztec scene... in daylight. My brother commented on this, calling it a "sh1tty horror movie".
