Try using CCleaner ( http://www.ccleaner.com/). It has a very powerful uninstall utility.

Does Bioshock have an uninstall entry on your start menu?

Did you try looking in the install folder? A lot of times there are Uninstall.exe's there for the game. If it's not showing up in the registry or in the uninstall area of the OS something else might be wrong.

If worse comes to worse, you can just delete the folder it's installed in to get the space back.

it's going to be even harder to get rid of the drm/rootkit that comes with bioshock

Not 100% sure about what I am going to say, I have used it in the past successfully to remove products that were "stuck."

However, if you download this, it should allow you to go remove BioShock. Then all you have to do is delete the directory (probably in program files)

if nothing else works, you can use your recovery CD and wipe it. that'll definetly clear it out

Simplier way : Go to the installation path of bioshock and delete the folder.
After that run ccleaner to remove old registry entries

yes...searched the install folder first for an uninstall exe...no luck there

    thanks for everyone who replied...

installed ccleaner and ran it once first to clear out the crap. manually deleted all tracesof bioshock..and then ran ccleaner again. turns out that ccleaner did not find any registry entries :S

i dunno what the **** is goin on

Well if you are really worried about it, you could always format and reinstall windows -_-

It's too bad it didn't have it's own uninstaller, and it's strange that it wasn't appearing in the first place. But at least you have the space back now.

Or couldn't you reinstall it on top and then try uninstalling it again?
