so i downloaded the newest omegas, ran 3dmark05 and get a base score. turns out, running any 3d app resets my atiTool to default clocks. so i've tried installing all the other atitools, including the newest and still no luck. my specs are in the sig, does anyone have any advice or insight, perhaps similar problems?...

That's a shame, looks like I won't be upgrading. Were you using the 6.7's or the newly released 6.8's?

Anything over 6.3, it seems, disables overclocking. I was also able to set the clocks with newer drivers (although it was much harder, kept freezing up), but as soon as I did anything 3D, the clocks reset. Tried just about everything, so it looks like I'll be sticking with the 6.3's.

it was the new 6.7 catalyst based omega release. yeah, i ended up going back to the older one (6.3 based i think). i tried everything, driver cleaner, 4 betas of ati tool and the newest version of ati tray tools which comes with the latest omegas. no dice. :(

Wait that doesnt make sense as Mastha was able to OC on his W3J, though he has a X1600, that shouldnt make a difference.

That's true, no problems with OC @ Omegas 6.7. The first drivers I have problems with are Catalyst 6.8, don't know why but got veeery low scores. Today I will check this again, uninstall, clean the rest, and install again. But now have to go to my better half ;)
