do you not have to force it in the VGA Card settings? like Nvidia contorl panel or Catalyst?

Something to remember when using a PC/laptop on any HDTV. Make sure that the TV is on and the input selection is set to whatever port you're plugged into before booting the laptop. While a lot of laptop will auto detect an external monitor when you plugged it in after boot up. Sometimes it fails. The best solution at that point is to use the above step and re-start the laptop.

Oh, all that was set up. I didn't touch anything on the tv. There was something happening on my laptop, I think.

But good tip for those who ahve similar problems.

Like Wiz said, I wouldn't be surpised if it didn't just not detect the connection. That happens sometimes even on DVI connections, and where you need to swap monitors or resolutions to get it to clue in.

It's siimilar to the 'force detection' for TVs, it's much rarer, but it even happens with my standalone BluRay & HD players and the TV, so even dumb connections that should do it automatically sometimes stumble.
