Hey, for some reason I can't seem to overclock my 6630m. I have tried both MSI Afterburner and Sapphire Trixx, both recognised my card but were both unable to overclock. I have updated to the latest AMD Catalyst software (12.2 preview). I have attached images to attempt to show my issue - In Trixx, the sliders simply were unmoveable, and in Afterburner, after moving the sliders, when I clicked apply they reverted back to 0.

Pastebin of what Speccy said about my PC:

Your 6630M must be able to use manual graphics, instead of dynamic switching. Otherwise, it is difficult to overclock at all.

Not without a BIOS update from the manufacturer. AFAIK, HP and Dell are the only companies that have released one to allow fixed graphic switching on systems with an Intel CPU and AMD GPU. Based on what I see, it looks like you have a Lenovo.

It would help if you could post your exact system specs, as well as what games you're trying to play.

What CPU do you have? AMD or Intel?

Try turning off ULPS, should be an option in TRIXX settings, then reboot.

Thanks, I've added my Speccy output on Pastebin.
EDIT: also, ULPS was already disabled, I think I did a registry edit to do that already.

Whatever that system output thing you posted is TMI. Please post a condensed version of your system specs similar to how my signature looks. Also, again, what games are you trying to play?

Attach a screenshot of the Configure switchable graphics screen. Then we can advise you.

The answer to your questions is that you can't overclock unless your setup supports manual GPU switching via the AMD Catalyst Control Center. To get manual GPU selection options visible in the CCC, you have to have a BIOS version that enables that specific feature. Like has already been said, overclocking will be almost impossible with automatic switching enabled.

If you do indeed have the option to enable manual GPU selection, it'll be here:

First right click on the desktop and select "Configure Switchable Graphics"...

Then you'll see this if you have the options enabled. If not, you'll need to have Lenovo update your BIOS to enable that driver feature...

When or if you have the options, this is what the CCC will display. To overclock you need to enter manual mode and select the AMD GPU as the primary...

Try RivaTuner (you might need to do some tweaking before)

That is the switchable graphics menu. You need to open catalyst control center. However, not all machines allow you to choose the type of switchable graphics. What you're showing is dynamic switchable graphics.

Yay, it worked! I think my updating the BIOS actually did change it. Now I just have to figure out the best settings...
The default is 485MHz voltage, 800MHz memory - any quick estimates of decent safe overclocks that would give me visibly better performance without destroying the chip? I always use it on a desk, plugged in.

Also, what's better - MSI Afterburner or Sapphire Trixx?

I use Sapphire Trixx. Also, the OC I do is 650Mhz on the Core Clock, and 885Mhz on the Memory Clock.

Keep in mind though, that not all GPU's are created equal. Some will OC higher, some won't. After setting your OC settings, run furmark for a while and test for instabilities.
