I'm trying to get Crysis running the best my system can handle and so far I've got pretty good results at a res of 1600x900 by fiddling with the command line.

However, while the game has accepted nearly all my commands, it just refuses to change the depth of field number. My FPS takes a massive hit (about 8) when zooming in with the Sniper and I can't change the g_dofset_maxscale down to 1 - every time I type it in it just stays at 3. Any idea what's up?

id use the EECC high level 4.

Identical to enthusiast with some improvements, and should average 30-45fps withyour system

I tried CUDAATS level 4 but that actually seemed to make performance worse - if EECC works better, I might give it a shot.

EDIT: Is that available for Crysis or just Warhead? I can only find the files for the expansion so far

Be warned - the water in the original Crysis won't work properly, so if you edit the water entry in the cfg, it should work properly.

Tried it but the performance boost wasn't huge. Managed to tinker sufficiently that I got something comparable with high settings at full 1920 x 1080 res at a constant 30FPS (no idea how, was just randomly messing with the command line).

Only problem now is that I can see certain effects through objects- mainly the water splashes and the wake behind a boat seem to superimpose themselves over the textures so even though they're in the distance I just see a grey line cutting through everything.

    Any idea what's up?

when I run all enthusiast setting and benchmark i get 19.50fps avg

when I use EECC high level 4 and benchmark i get 30fps avg

10fps is pretty huge for a game like crysis, and if you demand for say 40-50fps try the medium level 4.

Found out what was causing the problem - had to turn on soft particles otherwise it would cause that glitch.

My performance is so variable though - was managing a constant 30 FPS at 1920x1080 on one level yesterday, now I'm on the AA gun section and can't even manage 25 at 1280x700...

weird, and yea crysis is crap for performance.

I had run the first levels at enthusiast, then had to run medium/low for the ice levels. I think a proper examination of the game should be done for the most demanding areas of the game then conclude what the average fps is.

so technically i can barely run the game at medium.
in reality i say i can run enthusiast :)

but honestly even at medium it still looks nice, and no other game plays as crappy as crysis even 4 years after it was developed :)

look at how well mw2 runs or bioshock 2 or fallout 3.

crysis has the best art work, but the worst programming. period

same goes for gta IV, did you ever look at the fxc files and data layouts, it looks like a 4 yearold programmed the thing then they had someone that knew how to program fix the mess so it would run. that game looks worse than halflife 2, yet it runs worse than crysis

Vitor711 problem I think is that Crysis is already pretty optimized for your GPU, the G92. To me Crysis was a game almost purely made to showcase Nvidia's latest GPUs at the time. Just my view.

Just use it at high settings with no AA @ 1080p I'd imagine you should get smooth playable frame rate.

I assumed that too - but all High at 1920x1080 does not equal playable. Even worse, toning it down to 1280x720 barely offers up more frames. In fact, turning down any of the options seems to offer very little in game performance increase.

Tried CCC, tried EECC and none helped. I had it at a decent 40FPS at 1920x1080 yesterday via some tweaking but have no idea what the hell I did to get that - tried again today and nowhere near close to that.

At least Crysis 2 is round the corner - and while everyone bemoans the fact that it's bound to get 'dumbed down' for the consoles, at least it will run far better as they'll be forced to optimise it more...

    , EECC didnt help?

I get 50-80 fps with medium level 1. if 60fps average isnt good enough then what is lol?

maybe your card is a dud. it shoudl be better than my 260m gtx???

I might try it again - currently using CCC level 3 but performance still isn't as high as I managed to get it yesterday. Trying to find out what the heck I did to get it up to a constant 40FPS at full 1920x1080...

Can't really be bothered right now though as I have plenty of other games that run better and I'm currently enjoying more. Crysis is too much of a headache with regard to actually getting it to run.

    @Vitor711

You have patched your Crysis to the most current version right?

It's on Steam so must be - all my games are set to autopatch.

Speaking of which, Dirt 2 was patched yesterday and my FPS has nearly doubled... Now THAT'S a patch.
