    Hi everyone! :)

I have an HP Pavilion DV6-6C52EL with Intel GMA 3000 and AMD Radeon HD 7470M.
After the Windows 8.1 update (in Windows 8 everything worked fine), I had to reinstall video drivers from HP Support website, but unfortunately there weren't updated drivers for Windows 8.1.
So I tried to install the Windows 8 drivers, and they worked (both Intel and AMD) but I had some incompatibility issues with a lot of recent games and softwares.
At this point, I decided to install the drivers directly from Intel and AMD website, and not the OEM version from HP, to get the latest version and solve those issues.
After installing them, I lost switchable graphics options (but there's no problem, from the BIOS I changed "Dynamic Graphics" to "Fixed") and the brightness control. I noticed I have this problem with the AMD drivers and not with Intel drivers and I suppose this is because I didn't used the OEM drivers.
I asked to HP Support but I got no answer. I wrote to AMD Support and they told me that this is a problem from HP. I'm going mad! :( Is there a way to fix this problem and restore the brightness control? Are there custom (unsigned) drivers to download?

I already tried every option about brightness from Control Panel and "Adaptive Brigthness" is off.

I hope you can help me to solve or simply evaluate if it's better to downgrade OS. Thank you in advance! :hi2:

Give leshcat drivers a try. They worked great on my envy 17 3200. I know we have different rigs, but these seem to work well if you follow the directions.

My machine couldn't adjust brightness at first, but there is a fix that can be done (quite easy to do)

If you get no benefit from 8.1, just downgrade to 8. Saved me a headache since most of my drivers were incompatible.

Thank you for your suggestion, but unfortunately the LeeKM modded drivers did not worked for me.

I tried to install leshcat drivers and the switchable graphics worked, but the brightness wasn't working. I tried every combination to fix brightness control, but without success.

Since I've going mad, I downgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 8 and everything works fine now. It's ridiculous that I had to downgrade and reinstall everything for a problem like this, I'm very disappointed with HP.

However, is there a tool to put the Windows 8.1 start button (the button only, not the classic Windows start menu) in Windows 8? If necessary I'll open another topic in the right section.

    Thank you once more! :)

No problem sir/ma'am. I just gave up when nothing worked and I was like ugggh don't want this now so just downgraded :3 About the software, I've not seen any software of that kind nor have I bothered since I barely/never use the metro screen. In case you don't know (most probably do), sliding your mouse to top right of your screen and then dragging it down will open up that sidebar and you can enter it through the start menu for there.

Hi Saiyan96, thank you for your answer. :)

I know that if I slide mouse to top right I get the start button, but it's really uncomfortable. Moreover, in order to shutdown PC, I have to do a lot of steps instead of right-clicking on the start button (like in 8.1). :(
