Hi guys,
So I am having an issue trying to connect to IWnet in Modern Warfare 2 on my laptop. Usually, I play MW2 on my desktop and have had no problems with connecting. However, this week, I am home on spring break and am using my laptop to play. However, whenever I try to play it, I get the "Connecting to IWnet..." message and it never connects.
Am I doing something wrong or are the IWnet servers down or something?
Thanks!![]()

Probably just IWNet being itself, aka stupid. Sometimes I can connect, sometimes I can't, all without any changes on my end. Do you have all the right ports forwarded on your home router?
-
Yeah, what's weird is that at home I have everything open and uPnP enabled, but back in Arizona everything is locked and uPnP disabled and I can still connect.

I found that when you logoff of Steam, then launch the game and let the game re-launch steam that seems to work for me. This always happens when they do maintenance.
-
Maintenance? what kind of maintenance? this whole IWnet thing doesn't need anything but 1 toaster to run lol, players computers have to do all the damn hosting and player maintaining......

Well, it's been about a week and I still cannot connect. I've tried having the game re-launch steam, but it still does not work. I'm also convinced it's not the router, as many of the other applications I am running that require ports be open are working fine. The only thing that is different between SoCal and Arizona is the service provider (Cable one in Arizona, Time Warner in SoCal) but I really don't think that makes a difference.
IWnet + Steam = Piece of Crap -
Okay, sorry for the double post, but here's what I've done to see if it is a computer problem:
- Disabled Avast Antivirus (Really shouldn't make a difference, it's a virus scanner!)
- Disabled ThreatFire Firewall Protection
- Connected laptop directly to cable modem (no more router)
Even after all of these steps, I still get the "Connecting to IWnet..." message that never disappears.
I'm wondering, is it possible that it's denying me access because one night Steam registers the account in Arizona and the next night it sees it 400 miles away in California, possibly thinking the account has been hacked? -
weird... nver had such a problem with steam... might be someone hacked ur account...
Cannot Connect to IWNet...
