Cant look left or right on Left 4 Dead (PC)

I took the people on the forums advice and bought an xbox 360 controller, it works perfect on all the rest of the games
GTA IV, GRID, PES 2009 but it wont let me look left or right on Left 4 Dead.

Everytime I press left or right on the controller, it just does nothing.
When its suppost to look left and right
How do I do this?

Please help.

why would u use a controller in a FPS? Its like lying and telling the person you are lying to that you're lying.

 

Because I dont like using a mouses and keyboard keys to play games. I'm very used to a controller and just want to know why its not working

 

source is set up to use controller and mouse/keyboard, meaning, you will use both unless you config it.

it's retarded. you will use your controller for everything except you will look with your mouse. i tried it once way back when. you need to config the game to use your controller for the x, y, and z axis.

get used to mouse and keyboard. you will lose against PC gamers if you're using a controller. they can look faster, and aim much more accurate than you can.

 

I'm not really a big PC games, I just sometimes go on the games with my friends and play on them, which is why I like using the xbox 360 controller.

Does anyone know a way on how to configure this so that it looks left and right using the analogs on the 360 controller?

If you have any problems, they are most likely solved in the posts which follow on. I know it's a splitscreen guide, but it shows how to set up your 360 controller also.

You will get destroyed if you play online with this though, but it's fun to splitscreen with a friend (1 on controller, 1 on m+k or controller each)

 

nope, still not working.
when I followed the rules, it either gets stuck on the loading screen.

or completly disables the controller

 

Perhaps the pc version isn't designed for that? Still, a bit strange.

 

Pretty strange man, I have the wireless 360 controller but I doubt that makes a difference. Did you replace the config and execute the new one properly?

 

yeah, i opened the cgf file in notepad. deleted all the text and pasted the text it gave me.
I started the game and it froze at the loading screen many times.
So I skipped to another option which said "at the loading screen, unplug the controller and plug it back in again" so I did that and it worked.

but only the X button works and nothing else.
really unhappy, I payed like £30 for this game and £20 for the pad and it doesnt work

 

i have the wireless receiver and 360 controller. I use Rb and lb

erm.. ok. my some miricle.
I just turned on left 4 dead and decided i want a go with the mouse.
and it worked.. i havnt got a clue how. but it did!
