Is canyourunit.com a reliable and accurate site when it come to finding out if games will run well on your PC? I plan to use it for chosing what games to buy and don't want to end up buying a game that won't run. Opinions/experiences would be a big help, thanks.

I have heard of that site before, but have not used it.

Why not just post your specs and ask us?

It's pretty accurate unless your computer is very old or very odd (like a computer with an graphics card made in Angola and some motherboard by like YZHL)

another website is systemrequirementslab.com i think canyourunit.com may be the site that actually tests your computer for systemrequirementslab.com. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, I'd rather not post here and bother everyone whenever I want to find out if a game will run :p

Also: Does the web site weigh shared memory and dedicated memory the same way? I have noticed it already subtracts your shared video memory from your system RAM, but I hear that shared memory is slower than dedicated.

On canyourunit.com it say "System Requirements Lab" at the top. So I guess they're one in the same?

shared memory IS system ram. it's just put to the side for your GPU, so windows doesnt have access to it.

Yes I know that much. But a 128mb shared card wouldn't perform as well as a 128mb dedicated card, would it?

So what exactly would be the difference? Would the frame rates be lower at the same settings between the two cards? What else would be effected? Sorry about all the questions, lol, just want to know as much as possible.

It works for me for the most part, but then there are games where it says my video card doesn't meet the requirements but it should...like this:

Recommended: DX9 graphics card: WDDM driver, PS 3.0/32BPP, At least nVidia 7800 or ATI x1800 or above
You Have: NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GTX (GeForce Go 7900 GTX) FAIL: Sorry, your video card does not meet this recommended requirement.
Video Card Features - Minimum attributes of your Video Card Video RAM: Required - 256 MB , You have - 512.0 MB
Video Card 3D Acceleration: Required - Yes , You have - Yes
Video HW Transform & Lighting: Required - Yes , You have - Yes
    Vertex Shader Ver.: Required - 3.0 , You have - 3.0

Hmmm, that's odd. I've actually had sections of my video card approved that are nowhere near the minimum requiremens.... but I guess problems like this can be overlooked since if you read the info carefully enough you can tell the system made a mistake.
