I would suggest looking at the Clevo / Sager series with at least an 8800M-GTX card in it. From everything I've read on here it's the best all around deal balancing price and performance.

You could get a gateway with an 8800m GTS for $1100 right now :)
Should be more than enough for any game you want to play.

The problem with the 8800m notebooks is that they weigh more than 3kg. The 9600gs is slower than the 8800m gts it is more like the 8700m gt. If you find a 9600 gs notebook with less than 3kg, it should be capable of running those games. Lots of these games are multiplataform titles so they will probably run on the same kind of machine that runs today games.

i think 9500 gs (aka 8600m gt) is about as much horsepower as you are going to get for your desired weight class.

you will still be able to play all the games you listed.

look at the dell xps m1530 and the macbook pro 15"

see if either of those fit your needs. keep in mind the macbook pro isn't actually $2000. its $1799 and it comes with a $300 ipod touch (easy to resell if necessary)
