I think you mean "- would not mind NOT getting paid... at first" ?
That threw me off.
-
Meaning that they won`t pay you to test the games in the beginning...but after a while, they would start paying you to waste your time beta-testing new games released by them.

Professional gamer/Porn star/Professional athlete/Rock Star/Movie Star
All professions with low demand and a high supply of eager people willing to do it. Quite frankly the "talent" involved has more to do with marketability than actual skill.
(I know at LEAST 30 female vocal artists better than the vast majority of trash they have on MTV and they will never see that kind of money.)
Dreams are fun and all, but smart people dream and have a backup plan.
I almost had the Porn star job too... now I just manage servers. -

I am working on a Business plan on Gaming industry...
Although i dont Game till i drop but i have been into the culture...done LAN parties, Clan matches, Clan trainings, Server management, Tournaments, Matches.
lot more.
So i am thinking that the Real fun of Gaming is when people across nations come together and Game...thats the real spirit.
and hence my Business plan is along those lines. -
1. Language barrier, people won't understand each other.
2. Ping, gaming across continents jacks up your latency pretty badly.
Good luck though, no reason not to give it a shot. -
Across nations not Continents.
I did a ping test with my friends.
Maximum it goes upto is 90-100 in Asian countries.
and thats on STEAM so it is quite playable & Zero LaG.
P.S: Its just a business plan ..not as if i am gonna execute without actual research. -
Many people mistake "Career Musician" for "Rockstar". I spent many months in the studio, and many more on the road, but I am no where near a Rockstar. I don't reveal my identity anywhere on the internet, as to save from a bunch of troubles, but if I did reveal myself, half of you wouldn't know who the hell I am anyway! (Ok, like 75%)
I went to college to get where I am, even after dropping out of highschool when I was 17 to go on tour with a small band. (No Doubt) I went back, got my diploma, went to UNT for the Jazz Band, then to UMKC for the Conservatory. "Professional Gaming" has the same demands- much work, much practice, and not much "free" time. Think about it, what do you do in your free time now? Game. What about when that becomes your "job". What will you occupy your free time with now? -

(and no, it wasn't anyone here) -
Problem with comparing gaming to other sports is that for a sport, you might have to get recognised for your skills at a local level, maybe national. You do not have as many people to comprete with. When you are gaming you are with people from all over the world, so there is a much larger bucket of mice to choose from.
