Here is the link to the Bohemia Interactive store page: Link

I'm currently still downloading it (its only about 3.1gb), played a fair bit of the beta and that was pretty decent. I have heard that people have been running into performance issues with the release though. BI said to update it to the 1.02 patch so maybe that will have fixed it.

Just had a go at the campaign, not exactly an awesome start (pretty average fps introduction for some reason). Strategy mode is where its at.

If I had to compare it to anything recent, Battlestations: Pacific/Midway would be the closest in terms of gameplay. Hostile Waters is a much more similar to CC Gaea Mission if you played it (very much a spiritual successor to the original carrier command). As far as a basic gameplay description, its basically a real time strategy game which allows you to assume direct control (yeah Mass Effect) of individual units. You are in control of a carrier/ship which serves as a kind of mobile base from which you can launch attacks. The main objective is to capture all the islands in the game and also to destroy the enemy carrier (whilst not getting your own carrier destroyed). Check out some of the videos below for a better idea of what to expect (not my own videos):

    Basic gameplay trailer:

    Total Biscuit Gamescom coverage:

Hope that kind of helps, I would upload my own gameplay if my internet wasn't so rubbish.

I may have to pick this up. Reminds me of Battlezone somewhat which I loved. But I'm cheap, $50 seems too much to me. Will have to wait I guess. :)

Just a heads up I picked up a Steam redeemable copy on getgamesgo.com which had it for $44.99, but for some reason they still have it as pre order and won't release a key after purchase.... so went and grabbed it on Steam and will have to get getgames to cancel the order... I want to play today while I have some free time between football games ha!

And yeah, seems to have some Battlezone to it which was awesome. Plus I just like Bohemia so will support them earlier than I normally would.

From what I've played of it so far I don't think I would recommend it at full price unless you absolutely love carrier command type games. Don't get me wrong, the game is pretty good, just not as polished as I was hoping (there are some annoying pathfinding issues with the A.I).

Thanks for that info, and +1 btw for bringing up the game!

Why is it that games that have so much great potential end up unpolished and unfinished. Just hope this doesn't end up being the case with this one.

After playing it for a while I second that.
Getting frustrated with some of the path finding. Sometimes the AI would get stuck between trees and rocks just trying to follow me. Hope they fix some of that in future patches.

It's a good game, I like it, but kinda regret paying full price for it.
I can see it being $20ish in a few weeks.

I'll be sure to keep following, and hopefully they improve and tune instead of release and dump. It's also on Xbox 360, so wonder how finished that product is compared with the PC version?

@hulawafu77 - didn't mean to be harsh, just comments like that without any explanation leaves a bad taste in many people's mouths.

Haven't gotten a chance to play again yet since being bogged down in the initial (atleast I hope!) FPS part of the campaign and nfl football yesterday, but Get Games which has it on sale for $45 did quickly and painlessly refund my purchase no questions asked regarding my previous key issue.
