World of Warcraft: Cataclysm MMO Hands On - Page 1 | Eurogamer.net

    - There will be 3000 new Quests. 1000 Quests are for 80-85, and the additional 2000 will be used for the revamped old world 1-60.

    - Blizzard has scrapped it's Path of the Titans alternative levelling system, because they felt it over-complicate the game.

    - Archeology is still in the game, as a passive profession like Fishing and Cooking. Players can use it to search for hidden ruins, lore elements, and get some loot, vanity items, and asemble things like a skeleton raptor mount!

    - They have also scrapped the plans to make guild levelling into talent trees. Instead it will just be abillities unlocks for your guild.

    - Every Race is getting a revamped starter zone. It sounds quite cool;

Interesting. Shame about the Titans part :(

Did they scrap their plans to rid of the game of all stats and just have a single universal "stat"? Blizzard has utterly destroyed theorycraft for this game and is catering 100% to the unintelligent masses. They've completely removed the benefits of being an intelligent player/person in this game and leveled the playing field so everyone feels like a "winner".

I among thousands of others who played in BC with Kaelthas un-nerfed, Black Temple before Illidan became a joke and when Sunwell was near impossible, quit with Patch 3.2 was it?

Blizzard did the smart thing for business. Catering to the masses has increased their subscription, now more players can say they completed hard mode or whatever else.

Only .5% I believe completed Sunwell. Oh well, it's not as challenging or fun though for those like you said who have a brain enough to multi-task, get out of the way of fire bomb, be aware of fire bloom, when Kil'Jaeden will use his shadow blast, dragon shield etc and aware of where you are located etc at all times.

Remember when strat was a 10 man?
    Remember when C'thun was hard?
    Remember when Van'cleef had lapdogs!?

And .5 sounds too generous. I personally never killed KJ but my guild and I on cho'gall got up to M'uru

    Stupid people ruin the fun.

I quit when Lich King came, came back for Ulduar as I heard rumor that it was more difficult.

We got to Yogg in 10 and 25 and my guild didn't have a single member that was able to complete TK (Kaelthas) or BT, and our loot system was /roll. Truly noob and even we did 1/3 of the hardmodes as we went.

I quit after reaching Yogg, with that fail group and said this is a joke.

On every boss fight more than 75% messed up, 25% had to carry the rest through the fight and we could do it.

In Sunwell, one player screws up, you're guild was done. 25/25 had to have brains. Ulduar, only need 5/25 to have brains.

Now yes, but pre yogg nerf it was a pretty tough fight on hardmode.

A hardcore raiding guild used /roll...? You didn't think that was a hint to leave? epgp worked the best imo.

Meh. I've been playing for 3 1-2 years. Every time they release new things, I get excited, and then realize it's just making the game easier for those who want everything handed to them. I'm really sick of blizzard making their games easy.

I wasn't around for Vanilla WoW. But I went in a pug group with a few who knew the strats. We ran through most of the vanilla content easily with just a once over instruction over vent.

    Yeah Blizz nerfed EVERYTHING.

The one thing they haven't nerfed is the auction house. That is still exploitable as anything.
When the raptor mini pets came out, i camped one for 4 days, sold it within two hours of getting it for 7.5k gold.

Two weeks later they are down to 50gold a pop.

I doubt I'll even bother picking up cata let alone resubbing for it, which is sad since I played from pre-BWL -> 9/12 HM citadel. Despite what their devs say, players are not getting better, the game is just getting easier and dumber... I miss blizzard, cata and even wrath just reek of activision influence.

I'm glad I got my wow gaming in during the original vanilla wow. I quit seriously playing right before TBC came out. Messed around a little on TBC then quit. I also tried out Wotlk on a private server to see if it was worth going back in to retail but decided agasint it.

I think the best time to pay world of warcraft was the last year of vanilla wow, I had the most fun then running premade battle grounds and world pvp with friends and acquaintences who no longer held raiding to be their top priority as everyone was waiting for TBC to get back into serious raiding.

    "inb4 delete"

I hate the WoW community on the forums. Part of the reason I left is because of how annoying and bag like everyone was.

Cataclysm is just going to introduce more reasons to brag about at level 85

Mock or outright copy the concept that Warhammer Online was built on? In my opinion, WoW has gotten much too long in the tooth. The best way for Blizzard to continue the WoW franchise is to do what SOE did with Everquest: Create a new MMO from the ground up and call it WoW 2.

There simply comes a point when revamping entire zones and adding new continents just isn't going to cut it anymore. When you look at the big picture, long term road map of WoW, you have to wonder what's next for WoW? More zones? More continents? More classes? More races? More quests? There will come a point when adding the same old, tired content in new expansions delivers diminishing returns.

And your point is? Feel free to bounce from the thread anytime you like.
