Any mention of that MLAA everyone's talking about? I was looking at the MLAA thread and I'm thinking about trying out the patch.

Go into CCC and reset to default settings in there, some people had to do that for 10.10 too.

@forge: no MLAA or 68xx support.

Be advised that the 10.10e hotfix pack is actually newer than 10.11, though the hotfix packs aren't really aimed at notebooks.

Skipping this again, 10.8 working just fine here.

I'm gonna stick with 10.10e for now. The only problem I have is the 2nd GPU utilization issue with BFBC2 that only a handful of other people are experiencing that has persisted since 10.6 was released. ATI just pretends it's not happening. Ive read about it on laptop and desktop systems with both 4xxx and 5xxx crossfire. If i post anything about it on teh ATI forum, most post gets deleted.

What's the difference between 10.10 and 10.10e? And can 10.10e be used on laptops? (I think it's the desktop only version with the mlaa hotfix, yeah?)

OpenGL crash? Maybe it is related to Triple Buffering option in CCC 3D settings? I have read that particular setting causes some games to crash, like Amnesia.

Dude, nothing is wrong with your HP Envy after you did Ati/Amd drivers upgrade.. you are just presing wrong combination of keys! You need to press Windows logo and F2/F3 simultaneously to get your brightness up/down!
Or you could just press the Win logo button and X key simultaneously to bring up portable computer control panel.. then you can also change screen brightness there. bye :)

Not working on hp tm2 after updating from 10.7. Tried 10.10 versions and now 10.11 and brightness buttons not working with ati, but when switched to intel.

So imaged back to install with 10.7. So something is up with the drivers from 10.10.

    Anybody report improvements over 10.10?

I find 10.10 the best I have ever tried far better than 10.6 or 10.8 that I had previously so am reluctant to upgrade just yet.

Ahh yes. The 10.11 were sent to MS for WHQL long time ago, before they knew when the HD6xxx would be officially released or something. Terry Makedon had some excuse. The 10.10e hotfixes are newer than the 10.11 and are recommended over the 10.11. Really only mobile users want to use 10.11 just because they are made for mobile, and the 10.10 hotfixes are mods.

Anyone with desktop should be using the 10.10 hotfixes.

    O rly.

Hmm. I guess I'll give them a try and replace my 10.8. Hopefully the newer WHQL drivers will have built-in MLAA. Want to take that out for a test.

Unless, of course, I should try the hotfixed 10.10 instead.

I, of course, can't update my driver to the generic one, but even when HP releases their version, I'm sticking with 10.8. I'm waiting for native MLAA.

I was skeptical at first, but Mew is right. Damn.

Sure, it might be a combination of my room being 66F, my mods, and my NC2000 cooler, but I just caught my 5870 idling in the 35C range. (It's been on doing light browsing for about two hours).

You should download Driver Cleaner. Then uninstall your graphics driver regularly.

Then reboot into safe mode and run Driver Cleaner on your ATI folder.

Then reboot into windows and install the drivers.

I just installed 10.11 from 10.10 this is what I did:
control panel -> programs and features -> uninstall all ati software.
after that it told me to restart, once it restarted, I installed the new drivers then restarted again.
I've always done it that way, and have no issue's to report!
I installed the 10.11 drives with Catalyst APP Technology

Thats not true, at least not for ATI drivers. It is recommended you install new drivers right over the old ones as they have changed "fixed" the update process.

Is this a problem specific to the Envy? The Fn+ up and down arrow keys on my Dell still work fine for adjusting backlight brightness.

Could be an issue with that and having to switch between graphics chips. The brightness controls work fine for me, but my system only has one dedicated gpu.
