OpenCL is also supported with these drivers. Support Open Platforms!

OpenCL ftw!
This is great news. -
Unfortunately the desktop transcode won't install on mobility, so we have to wait for them to fix the link.
I've already tweeted to CatalystMaker as that seems to be the only way to contact him. But I've noticed he seems to ignore any complaint about Mobility drivers and only focus on desktop. Bleh.
Maybe too busy mourning Greek's loss to South Korea, epic win. -
Yup, not recognized by my cards

Oh crap... seems they are offering the installer themselves now. I hope they haven't applied some kind of protection to it as well.
EDIT: Yup, i was right. The installer won't work on my VAIO -
-
I clicked on Release Notes it opened Catalyst 10.5 Release Notes, how come ??
-
-
Any word on what this fixes/improves over 10.5, or 10.1 for that matter..?

Crap! OpenGL support? Hot Damn I'm installing.
-
Cool, OpenGL + lots of 2D GPU Support, nice driver update.
-
These installed fine for me on my M15x with 5850. They fixed a lot of stability issues too.
-
Ok, installed it, works fine, those random pixel blocks when I fast forward videos in mkv are gone.
My 3Ds Max can run on openGL 4.0 as well now, woot. -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
so do these not install notebooks that use switchable graphics with an i5 like it says in the warning or is there a work-a-round?
-
That part is kind of misleading... it means no integrated (do they even make integrated ati chips for laptops anymore?). Those of you who have it installed, is there any temp or performance difference from 10.5?
-
Why don't you just install and see for yourself? It's not a big deal, waste maybe 5-10 minutes, if you don't like it, roll back...
-
My ati is still in the process of being ordered
Also, you left something out of the initial release notes that will make a lot of people happy here...
-

...oh.
whelp. Not a problem then come whenever my new laptop shows up. -
Won't install on my w870cu, says I already have the most up to date display driver.
-
-
This looks like one of the more major catalyst updates I've seen in awhile. Looks like they added alot of good fixes and stuff.
-

-
Can only say I'm glad my notebook brand is too lazy to bother to release their own version of GPU driver.

I am on my toshiba laptop with a 3650, if I download that 1mb file that checks my laptop it says it wont work, but if I download the EXE it installs with no problem. I checked device manager and the driver is installed!
But when I go play a HD video on youtube my GPU load is 0%. I reinstalled Flash 10.1 and still no go hmmm. and yes "hardware acceleration" is checked. -
Video playback is a decoder on the card. It doesn't use stream processors to do it. So yes between 0-2% use from very poor quality youtube/flash up to the best 1080p, that's normal.
Only clear way to tell is to see you CPU usage.
If your CPU usage for video playback is around 0-2% then you know it's working. But it's hard to tell with youtube since it would normally use 0-1% CPU anyways... Have to test it with a decent 720 or 1080p video with a DXVA enabled video player. -
Tested with a 1080P video, CPU usage stays under 1-4%, GPU temp increases, so I guess it means that it works.

I think this is the first driver that can beat the 10.3a one for a HD4570 ... however, the CPU usage still 30-40% when viewing 720p or 1080p video
-
The release notes don't specify the 5870m...but does this mean these drivers close the gap between the 5870m and gtx480m?
-
Here is a guide to help you set that up: http://forum.notebookreview.com/6311590-post1.html -

makes sense I guess, CPU is still up there with 70+% . Why does it work for some people and not others? -

.... nice guide though I like the way the videos look now and the control over the sound channels & other stuff +rep m8

MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
what media player are you using?
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
also if you aren't watching something that uses h264 (hd mkv stuff...ok h264 mkv stuff in general) it probably'll still use the processor.
-
I'm simply using windows media player 11 + combined community codec pack, 1-4% CPU usage.
-
These drivers seem to not function properly with Crossfire. Reading it all over the internet, mobility or not.
Here we go AGAIN. I finally think i'm going to get a bug fix for the BFBC2 load problem, but NOPE!! ATI s up their driver release AGAIN!. So what's going to happen? They're going to release a hotfix for desktop only, AGAIN!
Never again will i buy an ATI product. This is ing ridiculous. If they're going to release mobility drivers, SUPPORT THEM, how hard is it to release a mobility installer when they do a hotfix? seriously? -
thescreensavers Notebook Consultant
ok so I downloaded this H.264 1280x720p, 29.97fps Astronauts in Zero Gravity
CPU usage is around 30% GPU is 20-30%. I played it using VLC.
But if I play H.264 133megs Space Shuttle STS117 Launch 1920x1080i, 29.97fps
It cant play the video smoothly hmm, isnt my GPU suppose to be able play it fine? (see sig)
Edit: if I play it in WMP it works perfectly and my CPU usage dumps down. so hmm VLC -
anyone have download link for windows xp 32bit ? i really need it
thanks for help -
any direct links available for win7 x64 ??
-
Installed, and going back to 10.5. Really killed my fps in BF BC2.
-
-
Increased my fps on most games i play
.
-
-
I agree my fps in BC2 is the same essentially.
-
Even though discussion was around XFire perfromance, it may help.

Hey, I just got a new Toshiba, with a Radeon 4250... where do I get newer catalyst drivers that will work on Toshiba? The official website says specifically that Tosh notebooks aren't going to be supported..
-
-
I reverted to 10.5a on my desktop as well, 10.6 murdered my BC2 framerates. It would appear that's only the case on pre-5000 series card, though.
