Unfortunately the desktop transcode won't install on mobility, so we have to wait for them to fix the link.

I've already tweeted to CatalystMaker as that seems to be the only way to contact him. But I've noticed he seems to ignore any complaint about Mobility drivers and only focus on desktop. Bleh.

Maybe too busy mourning Greek's loss to South Korea, epic win.

You have to wait for a Dell/Alienware driver release. It's a known issue and will probably be fixed soon. Not sure if it's a vBios/Bios or if Dell needs to have their hardware ID accepted by ATi or not.

Oh crap... seems they are offering the installer themselves now. I hope they haven't applied some kind of protection to it as well.

EDIT: Yup, i was right. The installer won't work on my VAIO

Reference drivers, generally, can only be installed on notebooks if the manufacturer gives the chipset manufacturer permission to do so. nVidia's reference drivers don't install on Sony VAIOs either, I'm afraid.

Ok, installed it, works fine, those random pixel blocks when I fast forward videos in mkv are gone.

My 3Ds Max can run on openGL 4.0 as well now, woot.

That part is kind of misleading... it means no integrated (do they even make integrated ati chips for laptops anymore?). Those of you who have it installed, is there any temp or performance difference from 10.5?

Why don't you just install and see for yourself? It's not a big deal, waste maybe 5-10 minutes, if you don't like it, roll back...

I am on my toshiba laptop with a 3650, if I download that 1mb file that checks my laptop it says it wont work, but if I download the EXE it installs with no problem. I checked device manager and the driver is installed!

But when I go play a HD video on youtube my GPU load is 0%. I reinstalled Flash 10.1 and still no go hmmm. and yes "hardware acceleration" is checked.

Video playback is a decoder on the card. It doesn't use stream processors to do it. So yes between 0-2% use from very poor quality youtube/flash up to the best 1080p, that's normal.

Only clear way to tell is to see you CPU usage.

If your CPU usage for video playback is around 0-2% then you know it's working. But it's hard to tell with youtube since it would normally use 0-1% CPU anyways... Have to test it with a decent 720 or 1080p video with a DXVA enabled video player.

Tested with a 1080P video, CPU usage stays under 1-4%, GPU temp increases, so I guess it means that it works.

I think this is the first driver that can beat the 10.3a one for a HD4570 ... however, the CPU usage still 30-40% when viewing 720p or 1080p video :(

The release notes don't specify the 5870m...but does this mean these drivers close the gap between the 5870m and gtx480m?

It has to be a DXVA enabled video player. You have to set it up...

Here is a guide to help you set that up: http://forum.notebookreview.com/6311590-post1.html

makes sense I guess, CPU is still up there with 70+% . Why does it work for some people and not others?

I followed the guide to the letter but still same GPU utilization 10-20% & CPU usage is 30-40% :( .... nice guide though I like the way the videos look now and the control over the sound channels & other stuff +rep m8

These drivers seem to not function properly with Crossfire. Reading it all over the internet, mobility or not.

Here we go AGAIN. I finally think i'm going to get a bug fix for the BFBC2 load problem, but NOPE!! ATI s up their driver release AGAIN!. So what's going to happen? They're going to release a hotfix for desktop only, AGAIN!

Never again will i buy an ATI product. This is ing ridiculous. If they're going to release mobility drivers, SUPPORT THEM, how hard is it to release a mobility installer when they do a hotfix? seriously?

I reverted to 10.5a on my desktop as well, 10.6 murdered my BC2 framerates. It would appear that's only the case on pre-5000 series card, though.
