According to Terry Makedon Catalyst 10.8 will be out this afternoon and the following should be expected:
- Anti-Aliasing support for StarCraft II
- some performance gains in Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and Stormrise
- fully supports the OpenGL ES 2.0
& hopefully more ....

10.8 is already available through akamai although not yet featured on AMD website. Win 7 32bit & Win 7 64bit

@ downloads: you sir own!
.... I hope these babies have any gains
EDIT: They are out now at AMD Site & I absolutely recommend these drivers to any Mobility Radeon HD 4570 user out there -
Hmmm nice. I will try them tomorrow.
-
Will this be useful to integrated graphic cards?

Installed them on my system and fired up SC2. Pylon energy fields no longer severely hampers performance on my system!
edit: nevermind... Pylon issue still exists depending on the map I'm playing on -
Awesome. I can't wait to get home.

I uninstalled the old drivers and all the ati folders, and installed 10.8 and now when I right click my desktop there's no Catalyst Control Center? I don't think its installed at all actually because I searched for it and nothing came up.
I went and downloaded the individual CCC installer and that didn't install it either... -

whelp time to see how the envy 14 responds.
the usual response is a black screen and then after you wait it out and the drivers and stuff finish installing, you can turn the computer off blind and it'll have worked.
worst case scenario is either screen won't come back when it reboots or (and this was while being stupid and disabling one of the video cards in the device manager) the two video cards will fight (swap back and forth every 2 seconds) until windows gives up and shuts them both down. -
Anyone have some reports for any gains or positive effects with a 5870?
-
Think I'll pass. I'm tired of updating drivers. 10.7 is good enough, lol.
-
-
Did they solved the memory leak issue of 10.7 and borderlands yet?
" "Borderlands" no longer fails after a duration of gameplay"
ok I guess it's yes. -
Just to report this new driver seems to fix a small glitch I have with SC2. I would like to try this new driver with borderland later if it fixed the glitch (floor sometimes is see through).
-
What glitch did you have with SCII? I noticed mine seems to play smoother, but I'm not sure.
-
would not recognize my 5730
-
I had to revert to 10.7. This new one causes screen flickering with King's Bounty. My other games are all right, though.
-
Anyone know if this works with Sony?
-
It doesn't officially work with Sony's. Sony opted out. But, I have heard of people downloading it direct and getting it to work. I can't take any responsibility for that though.
-
I'll stick to 10.3 - don't want any memory leaks in A DRIVER
-
Catalyst control center won't open and at the end of the install it was at 800x600.

but on the sticky says that if you upgrade from a 10.x version to a 10.x you don't need to uninstall previous driver, and do all the clean up thing, right?

Will I see any performance increases with my 4670 going from 10.6 to 10.8? Currently only have one game that glitches and that is C&C 3 where smoke effects look like squares.

saturnotaku Notebook Nobel Laureate
The 10.8s are OK, which is more than I can say for any ATI driver since the Radeon 9500 I modded to a 9700 Pro (this is having owned a 9800 Pro and several others in the intervening years).
Of course, I had to be reminded that I was running an ATI card when I attempted to fire up some of my older OpenGL games, including Quake 2, which greeted me with a crash upon startup. Fortunately you can copy the ATI OpenGL driver from Catalyst 10.4 directly into the game directory, and it will work. Not the most elegant solution, but it's better than being left completely in the cold.
I do have to say that running Shogo: Mobile Armor Division was a piece of cake. I didn't have to do any fiddling to get it working smoothly, unlike my previous NVIDIA-based desktop and notebook systems. At this point, I'm not regretting switching to the red side, considering how much money I saved going with the Radeon Mobility 5870 versus the GTX 480M. -
-
I just installed the new drivers over the old ones, and all is OK, nothing exploded and I'm on 10.8! -
-
I'll try them out tonight, to see if this fixes my crashing issues -
is this on the ati site yet or still leaked?

I updated and my CCC still will not open. At the end of the install it said that it installed with some errors opened the log but it didn't say anything i reboot and CCC still won't open.....

The installer doesn't detect some card correctly and doesn't install the display driver, but it will always update the control center. So when the 10.8 control center loads up, it looks for the 10.8 display driver but can't find it, so it doesn't load.
If you try to use the web installer from the AMD website, you need to look close at what it's installing. If the display driver portion is listed, but grayed out, that means it's NOT upgrading the display driver. -

Uninstall all ati stuff from "programs and features" (assuming you're on win7).
Delete the ATI folder in C:\ati.
Reboot into safe mode (press F8 before windows logo).
Run driver sweeper, only check ATI - display, click analyse and then click clean.
Reboot into windows again and run the driver installer.
Works every time
