Ive been out of the game for some time.
Am currently owning a Geforce GT 230M ... i know, my notebook is four years old. And its been working wonderfully, but now its time to move on.

I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction with the following:

    - a timeline with the developments of the GPU's over the last couple of years
    - where theyre going with the GPU's (maxwell?)
    - what models are currently considered 'high end' for the notebook

And maybe if it matters - what radeon cards are top of the bill?

    Thanks so much.

I would read some articles over at anandtech. They are good at going over changes in architecture.
