I just got my new laptop yesterday (HP NC8430, very nice btw) and one of the first things I did was update my graphics card drivers to the 6.8 mobile catylysts (sp?). The installation went trouble free and the drivers work just fine, however no matter how I try to access it I can't bring up the Catylyst Control Centre. Obviously this is no good as I can't alter settings and add AA/AF etc. So why won't it work? I did disable a couple of Windows services earlier on, could this be the problem? Thanks for any help.

What services did you disable. Anyways I don't really know which services could disable CCC.

Do you have .net 2.0 Framework installed? It's needed for CCC to work. Did you uninstall the old driver correctly? Check here.

    Full Mobile Catalyst 6.8 download.

.net franmework came as part of the laptop but it was version 1.1. so I'll try it with 2.0 and see how I get on. The services I disabled were pretty much exclusively Windows services recommended to be disabled in various guides and I checked what they were first. Oh, and yes I did do a full uninstallation of the previous drivers but CCC wasn't working with them either so you're probably right in thinking its the .net framework.

Yes, the Catalyst needs the .net 2.0. You don't need to uninstall the .net 1.1. but propably have to reinstall the Catalyst 6.8. after installing the .net 2.0. to get everything work correctly. Not sure though.

Also check that ATI tweaking guide on my previous post for disabling unnecessary services and startup progs to free resources. Specifically .net and CCC Cli.exe are horrible memory hogs...

Well I've just downloaded the Omega drivers and they work great so I'm going to just stick with them for now.
