    Hi all,

I downloaded the CellFactor demo because I read on Tom's Hardware that you don't actually need the PhysX card to play it. Here's a link to the article:

    http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/play-CellFactor-demo-PhysX-PPU-ftopict185393.html

Just after the loading screen, it spits out this fatal error:

Reality Engine.dmp is a 115kB file that I don't have the know-how to understand. Can anyone tell me how to remedy this error?

    Thanks

Later on in that thread they say that Aegia discovered the flaw and cut off downloads for a while while they patched it to require the PPU. Considering that thread is several months old, it's safe to assume that if you just downloaded the demo then that is the reason you are experiencing problems.

Yeah the developer did catch that, but what they decided to do was allow it, and in all the documentation state all of the features that get disabled without PhysX. They were worried about the claiming that PhysX provides no benefit, so they made it so it can run either way so you can see the huge performance drops when there is fabric or fluids.

Has anyone else been able to run the demo? I'm now trying to download the installer from another server to see if the file was corrupt; other than that I'm short for ideas.

EDIT: It turns out you were right. While the demo can run with or without PhysX, the "reality builder," whatever that is, now requires a PhysX accelerator. So here's the new question: does anyone know of a place to download the original demo file?
