Hello, i have the i6400 and the the ATI x1400 and the new drivers :).
Is there a limit to how many hours a laptop should be on? I was on it for 2 days straight, but not gaming all the time and i noticed somemajor slowdowns :( . I also heard the fan for the first time and noticed a major LAG ATTACK in css.

Doesn't hurt to reboot a pc every now and then. 30seconds or so of downtime wont kill you hehe ;)

There shouldn't be a 'limit'. Is the room hot? Did it get better with a reboot? Is there a lot of dust or anything around it? Was there air circulation around it? Lots of things can cause problems.
FYI, I'm running a server at home on an old laptop (built-in UPS. Woohoo!) and it's been up for... 26 days at the last count.

If your fans went to full blast and you noticed a serious slowdown at the same time, that was probably because of the graphics card overheating. Make sure the notebook is well ventilated. As long as it gets enough air to cool itself, you should be able to game as long as you want. I have gamed for hours on end with my Sager and it is fine as far as heat goes.

yea i keep it on a magazine and two inch thick game boxes, hl2 and css...
but i have 2 cats and a lot of dust. Css is very dissapointing because it freezes so much, it may be the radar update or the new drivers i will uninstall these new drivers and go back to the old ones and see what happens. If css works then i will be a happy camper...with 30 less fps[i checked]
should i do system restore to go back or download the older drivers?

Magazines aren't a very solid surface from my experience, and the paper can get sucked up slightly toward the fan, making it hard for it to get sufficent air. Best off putting it on a table or similar.

JK i keep my laptop desk tidy and all parts of my laptop is free to breath. i did system restore 5 mins ago and have the original drivers from yessterday, but oddly i have limewire and other programs which i installed today that are still here??? gonna test Css now and see if the drivers were the problem or if the radar update was the problem
