Hi,
I'm looking for some good RTS games, but, only ones in which it follows the standard 'build your base up, resources, etc' pattern.
So far, I have:
C&C Generals
Dawn of War
Company of Heroes
All Command and Conquer titles
Real War
Krush Kill Destroy series
I can probably think of many more, but just if anybody else can contribute some new ideas....

starcraft comes to mind
-
Total Annihilation: Spring
It's a free, open source remake of the classic RTS TA
You need to DL maps for it and some new AI, so it isn't an simple download, but if you mod other games it shouldn't be a problem. It is flat out amazing.

warcraft
starcraft
red alert
supreme commander
age of empires
rome: total war -
Has Supreme Commander even been released? Everything I look at says it won't be released for another month.

wow that looks rly cool
also, another good rts is lotr:bfmeII, i know it sounds geeky but its actually rly fun -
I know Supreme commander looks cool but i hate how large of a scale its on.
I am going to be getting C&C3 because micro is all i am good at -
I'm so fed up with micro it's immeasurable. It's time for a good macro game to come out so I'm not reduced to clicking a thousand buttons for ten different units just to win a battle. Even DoW, which I love, is all micro and the closest thing to actual strategy in that game is "Build fast, attack early, sometimes drop units behind enemy lines" otherwise it's outright melee and the person who clicks buttons the quickest wins.

I like RTS games that have more strategy, but typically they have a steeper learning curve and it takes a while to get to the point where you're proficient. These are the ones I've played that are good:
Age of Empires II - great game, but outdated now. I was the king of that game back in the day (e.g. three, four, five years ago). Not many people play it online anymore, sadly enough.
Age of Empires III is new and more complex and realistic, but correspondingly has a steep learning curve to get the hang of it. It is a lot of fun and involves a lot of strategy to be good at it.
Easier, less micro-intense games:
Starcraft - a classic that is still played by millions of Koreans, for big money. Online play is still going strong.
Warcraft III. This game is fun and easier to get the hang of than the Empires games. I found that it was ultimately less satisfying... After a few months I was tired of it, compared to AOE II which I played for years.
I recommend Age of Empires III, but to the gamer who likes more realistic and strategic type gameplay.
Anyone played some good RTS games they want to talk about? I'm especially interested in online play. -
You liked AoE 3? I heard they didn't bother to fix a single thing that was wrong with AoE 2 most notably the absence of attack move or at least a working attack move. Age of Empires 2 was a great game and we used to do LAN battles at lunch in high school but that game had more micro than any other because if you didn't pay attention your attack forces would just spread out and get slaughtered.

AOC is the best, Age of Kings: The Conquerors Expansion.
I've actually been playing that game for...well since ROR and the AOK Beta so thats coming close to 10 years. Still an excellent game, and the funnest thing about RTS is playing online. I've actually been the leader of an AOC gaming clan for the past 6 years (tonight is actually our weekly games night), great game and still a good community of thousands of possible team mates and opponents - I highly recommend it, especially Random Map Mode

i would say bfme 2 and lotr bfme and when it comes out cnc 3 looks pretty cool i think i might preorder it. -
metal, none of that is an example of micro... Base defense and economy management are not the same thing as having a group of six units where you constantly hit tab then the hotkey for their abilities instead of actual tactics. Sure, in DoW you can sometimes gain an advantage with a pincer movement but generally the maps are created for head on battles.
Certain type of RTS Games...
