    Change my GPU from 8600M GT to a 7950 GTX

    Would this be at all possible, to "downgrade" (well not so much downgrade..) to a 7950GTX in my 1720? my rig specs are in my sig. im just wondering if it is actually plausible................

    Although it IS possible to change the graphics card in the 1720, I believe it can ONLY be exchanged with a card that's offered in the original configuration. So 8400m GS or 8600m GT.

    ahh ok thx for that man... just was confused since it is a "lower" card... well it is by the numbers anyway :p i might look for a GDDR3 version of the 8600 GT...

    You can find notebooks that use the GDDR3 version for a fairly reasonable price. If gaming is a concern/want, I suggest you go for it.

    do you know of any online websites/stores where it is possible to just buy a laptop GPU separetely? i am not planning on buying a new notebook just for a slightly better GPU.

    i saw one before, but i cannot remember the link :S...

    I don't, and unless you have a specific laptop and order a specific GPU, you WON'T be able to install it into your current laptop. Sorry, but that's just the way it is. Laptop GPUs are NOT upgradeable except in the rarest of cases.

    A desktop is a good way to go if you want good performance and don't need to move your computer. See this guide for ideas on what hardware to buy for which budget.
