    Hey guys,

Whats the cheapest "gameing" 15.4' laptop out there? It seems to me like the only thing that makes a notebook "gameing" status is if it has the T7200 processor and an Nvidia 7600 vid card or equivilant (x1600).

The cheapest I have found is the Asus line from Powernotebooks.com. In that site, their Powerbook A runs for about $1300, and is fully loaded with the "gaming" criteria.

A more expensive alternative is the Hp Business Compaq n8430. It has really nice specs, but it will run you pretty close to $2000.

What kinda info do you guys have?

Pretty much you've done your research. The ASUS F3 is also similiar, as is the Compal HEL80.

I dont know if you can get a zepto where you are. but here in the UK a Zepto Znote 6214W starts at £440.11 (without VAT) with a go7600 512mb.

*EDIT* oops, didnt realise you said a 15.4", the zepto is a 14.1"

Just make sure you get a 7600/X1600 with 256MB of memory and 128-bit wide bus. These two things will kill the performance for a mere $100.

I'd have said just the same, except that for a 15.4" screen you'll have to go for the Znote 6615. The same specs like a 6214, besides the screen off course. I myself own a 6214 for about 3 months now and it's great as a portable gaming machine. And compared to the well known brands it's a lot cheaper. At least where I live.

I do believe the OP lives in the USA, and you can't get any Zepto's over there (for now only European market, mostly through on-line resellers). But hey, you can always drool over it a bit

There are some HEL-80's from powernotebooks.com with a Geforce 7600 that will land you under $1500 if you equip it right. Also check out these laptops, although keep in mind some of them aren't 15.4", and some of them use the ATI equivalent of the Geforce 7600:

    - Toshiba A135 (15.4", Geforce 7600)
    - Compal HEL-80 (15.4", Geforce 7600)
    - Compal HGL-30 (14.1", Geforce 7600)
    - Asus A8Jp (14.1", Radeon X1700)
    - Asus F3Jp (15.4", Radeon X1700)

I know the Sony Vaio FE has an option for a 7600, but I think it is 128mb. Anyone know how much this affects the performance? Im iffy about getting it if it isn't much better than the 7400.

If all you want is a 7600, and want the lowest price, look into clearance, refurbished notebooks if that doesn't bother you.

without a doubt, the cheapest [and fully loaded] notebook with Nvidia 7600 is:

    Everex StepNote XT5000T -
    $699-899

Fully loaded for a stellar price:
    - 17" WXGA+ (1440x900)
    - AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual Core TL-50
    - NVIDIA Geforce 7600 (256mb)
    - 1gb DDR2
    - 100gb Hard Drive
    - Dual Layer DVD±RW

This is definitely bang for the buck. And has pretty good reviews.

Current sites with it in stock:
    - TigerDirect for $899
    - OfficeMax had this at $699-799, but they are out of stock currently online [I wonder why? ;)]
--- you can find it in stores [OfficeMax] if they still have it in stock, item number: 21209292

Sorry I don't know if you live in Europe, but if you do you might be interested to know that the AMILO XI 1546 retails at 10000 kr in Sweden which is roughly 800 dollars plus tax. Check out http://www.dustinhome.se/. For specs check out my sig. The x1800 beats the hell out of a 7600 or x1600.
