With my new computer coming in next week I'm looking forward to catching up on some titles I've been missing for the past 2 years. Crysis, Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, Empire: Total War and many more. I'd like to get the most bang for my buck so where do you all buy your games?

There are a ton of places to get cheap games these days, really depends on your buying habits though:

    1) Steam - www.steampowered.com This should be your go-to site. Excellent games, competitive prices and INCREDIBLE weekend deals (think ten Ubisoft games for $53)

    2) Goozex - www.Goozex.com This is a game trading site that's been very good to me for a number of years. Essentially you trade in existing games for points then cash those in for games that you want. Each game you receive costs 1 trade credit which equals $1. Can't say enough good things about this site, although if you are looking for new games you will have to wait a few weeks. Also users cover shipping so factor that in as well.

Gamestop - You can find some good deals here sometimes on used games, although it's all about time. Subscribe to their newsletter on the website and troll places like fatwallet.com for coupon codes.

Buy.com/Amazon/Ebay - You can sometimes find other deals here. Keep an eye out for Amazon's Deal of the Day as sometimes they are quite good, ~50% off.

Generally, if you are looking to save money just shop around all of the places I listed and try and find the best deal.

I think the OP is more interested in newish retail PC games, but I guess that shouldn't stop me from pimping the greatest free MMO of all time: Phantasy Star Online

Amazon have new and used games for sale and try going to your local Cex store and Game store. Steam is good but sometimes the download times can be very long.

I hardly buy any new games, but I have heard some argue that buying used games takes away potential revenue from the game developers which is an interesting point.

I love steam (you would NOT have heard me say that 3+ years ago, man I hated steam back then) but I do tend to like getting an actual dvd/cd. Amazon looks to be a good source and I am going to take a look at Goozex cause I have a TON of old games lying around. I've been really disappointed in Gamestops selection and pricing lately, they seem to carry all the crappy games now and none of the good ones. BTW thats a great PC Gamer article, if you haven't taken a look yet I would recommend it. Also, I do like to support Stardock because of their anti-DRM policy. Gotta support the little guys.

I actually prefer the opposite, I love steam's ability for you to download your games right then and there, so for a clumsy and forgetful person like me, I don't have to worry about losing or scratching the CD/DVD's :D

I like the download services because then I don't have to putz around with a bunch of CD keys. I have a bunch of games that I just can't play because I took them out of thier jewelcases to make them more convenient to store, but didn't think to catalog the CD keys. CD keys are teh suck. Almost as much so as DRM.
