OK, here's the problem: I get choppy Youtube video, especially in HD or HQ. And I also noticed in the nVidia control panel that under 3D Settings - "Adjust image settings with preview" that little revolving thing moves choppy, the one that says it affects Direct3D or OpenGL.
SO, I tried 4 different nVidia drivers and none are making a difference. Also, HD video such as AVI's or Blu-Rays are totally smooth and clear..
Does this mean I have a "Direct3D or OpenGL" issue? How can i resolve this? Please help.

Reinstall your Flash player, probably Java too just to be safe.

i've reinstalled the adobe flash players, java, direct x. i think there is a deeper issue here. my system has also slowed down and shutdown times are long as hell, too.
HELP -
Well first thing to do, lets run some clean ups!
My advice to you.
Get CCLeaner and run the app clean and registry clean (dont FORGET to backup the REGISTRY)
Install comodo internet security (free) close the malware scanner and then reboot and run the AV (NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES, a virus scan needs doing).
When the scan completes, uninstall if your clean (or keep because its free, i run no security at all because i love speed. )
Install auslogics registry cleaner and run it (its a very effective tool) and see if theres some more parts of the registry unclean (i find it finds left overs even after ccleaner).
Run the systems own defrag tool however see if it wants a defrag or not, do nt run the program to defrag.
If yes, then download auslogic disk defragger and run (may take some time but its awesome).
Now for general enhancements ive played with alot of tweaks around the forum and i will resight them for you.
Tweak 1, disabling TMM (so faster starting up because the screen doesn't blink to scan for monitors, you can use your fn key and f* key to active monitor or do it from GPU controls)
Here it is.
Go to start, control pannel, administrative options and then task scheduler.
On the left side you should see task sceduler local, click that, go to microsoft, then windows and click mobile pc, you should see TMM, click it and on the right menu you should see disable, hit that and it will reduce start up time because it wont flicker.
This next one will cut your shut down time in half (possibly more)
press start, and in the run box type cmd (or you can hold windows key and press R) and in that box type regedit, this should take you to the registry editor, now i do warn you, if you make mistakes here, things can go wrong, please back it up.
In the registry editor, navigate through to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then SYSTEM, then CurrentControlSet and then Control.
Click the control folder and you should see a line towards the middle of the screen which says "WaitToKillServiceTimeout", right click it and select modify. You should see the value at 20000, setting this to a lower digital will drastically cut it in half so i was suggested 5000, and that value is bang on, so set where it is 20000 to 5000 and that will cut your shutdown time crazily.
I disabled UAC too but thats your own option.
The last tip i have is for enabling write catching to disk, go to my computer, and right click your C drive, then go to policies and and Enable Write Caching On Disk and this should improve performance a bit.
All these have sped up near enough all of my systems and my current system (the one in my specs ) has a vista boot time of 25 seconds 3 seconds login and 7 second shutdown.
Also i suggest updating your drivers to stock OEM latest.
That should work charms, i hope the list i have provided does you well and i will continue to help you out.

Youtube HD videos will always be choppy if you don't start the video from the beginning. So after pressing HD move the slider to the start and never skip ahead unless that part of the video has loaded.
Also the new HQ option (&fmt=35) has problems with missing frames so will appear choppy too. Older HQ videos shouldn't have this problem and it shouldn't be a problem if you add "&fmt=18" to the end of the video link. It will be slightly lower quality but all frames intact.
If you still having same problems then its to do with PC. -
I never get choppy videos from youtube?
Could it be his internet?
Although the OP did state about his performance slowing down, i think it just needs a good maintenance. -
i run maintenance on this thing like a maniac. i messed up my computer a few days ago somehow. i guess im just going to reinstall windows. too many problems going on. unfortunately i had system restore turned off.
