Circuit City and Liquidation (Games)

yeah I am going to check every week and hope I get there at the right time to get both an item I want and a good price, but too many people have more time & money on there hands to get there first.... so its like the luck of the draw.

yeah, man. i went into one last night(in brooklyn) and the prices were outrageous for the company that went belly-up. a 4ft hdmi cable was like 40 bux! (6m one was almost $200 )

edit: my bad, i thought you were saying that the prices were bad

 

I hope those game prices are for all locations, I'll pick up all three games. But I bet by the time I reach the store, everything will be cleaned out.

Gotta haggle them a little They come down on prices in liquidation just by asking...I asked if i could pay $5 each and what they gave me was the best they could do...

Michigan was crap. First, half the crap was over priced and second, they offering only 10 percent off on most things.

For example, ancient games like Supreme Commander you can buy from other stores for $20 were $49.99 before the markdown.

 

Same here, it seemed things were much over priced. Then only a 10% discount.

 

No go for me, PC games were only 10% off at one of my close locations.

Went to my store and everything was 10%. I talked to a friend that still works there and he said rumor is they are closing for good on March 31st. If that's true it might be a little while until we see good sales.

 

I was at a CC in Manassas, VA before Christmas that was in its final day of closing and even then the sales were crappy...maybe it really does vary from store to store..but all I know is that the Costco's regular prices down the street were much better than the final Circuit City liquidation prices....

Checked out the RSM center, there where more employees than people in the store. Nothing special on sale.

 

mechanicsburg pa had markups and 10% off. tried to haggle and it was a no go. they wouldn't even haggle floor models and before they liqidated they i could always haggle a floor model! i'ma check back this weekend and see if the toon has changed maybe speak to a manager about haggling...

I never bought anything from "Circuit City" a big Rip-Off!

 

Circuit City was always cheaper then Best Buy for me.

 

While I've always found Circuit City to be cheaper, their going out of business stuff is a rip. They give you between 5%-30% off, but they take everything off sale and put it at its MSRP or higher. That way, you end up paying as much as you would have any other time. A lot of people don't realize it, though, and think they're getting a deal. Shame.

 

I thought I was the only one noticing that. Your right, every thing is seriously marked up from their usual prices making every body thinks what ever is mark down is what they will be saving. I been searching for a new mouse and I could of sworn that their Logitch Mx revolution was $94.99 a couple weeks ago and now its back up to $104.99. Do the math, 10% off that really doesn't save you any thing. I will wait a little more price dropping and hoped what ever I need is still there.

 

Anyone been to Circuit City in the past few days and know if discounts raised from 10%?

 

I was just there on Friday and their prices were still obscenely high IMHO.

 

well there have been circuit city commercials over here in San Antonio saying its 30% off now, but i haven't had the chance to go

 

All they do is raise the prices, and then add the %-off to make it look like a good deal.

 

I think I am going to go again today to see if prices have come down more yet.

 

i went yesterday, i was in a rush so i couldn't look around but unfortunately they didn't have an hd65

 

I went to my store last week with nothing noteworthy. I passed by the store again when I went to my local Microcenter today and noticed a sign near the store said the max off the items in-store was 40% when last week, it was 30%.

Maybe if I wait a bit more, there may be something worth picking up, I just hope the vultures haven't picked everything clean by then.

 

The only real deals I've seen were 20% off on some of the console stuff like Rock Band, Guitar Hero, etc. That stuff doesn't normally get discounted that often.

 

Ok I went and I cant say it was worth it because I had to drive though the super bowl traffic twice to get to the store...

I was upset to see that almost all the computer stuff like storage (hard drives) is STILL only 10%

But games were 20%

Accesories 30%

and some things here and there even 40%

TV's are starting to look good.

I got the very last wii classic controler (30% off) for like $13 that was a good buy and I wanted one for a long time.

I got a Wii game (20% off) We Love Golf for like $32 so it was a worth while trip.

I hope to see $50 off and score a projector, or 30% off for some hard drives.

People have already bought like half the store though even with current prices, almost every laptop is gone, so... Its gonna be hard to find anything good with lower prices.

Yep like 8 min away from the stadium, the Circuit City closest to me is right past it.

 

dang i should have bought a wii classic controller, are the projectors they have there any good? when i went they only had 3 but none were the hd65 and i forgot to write the names down so i can't look them up.

 

Hm guys does circuit city sell the Logitech G5 laser mouse?
Thats all I'd be interested in at the moment so maybe you guys could tell me if you've seen it in your local stores Or maybe headphones and DVD-R's, guessing those fit into the 30% off category as Accessories ViciousXUSMC posted?

 

The HD65 is what I wanted too!

I know its a really really good projector and a good price, but they have the 70 and 71, I think one of them is a clone model and one a slight upgrade.

20% off but still too high for me.

I'll hope they have on in the 40% off area

The wii classic controller is treating me good. I just got done playing a round of dodonpachi on my mame emulator with it and it works great, cant wait to break out the snes emulator games with it, finally perfect controls!

Totally not worh the visit ,went to one of the stores to check out the sale ,popular items are only 10% off "Retail" and all sales are final ,you get better price easily in other stores or online everyday.

 

My friend called me and said they have one more hd65 and its a little over $800 but i think im gonna wait i hope no one finds or asks for the hd65.

 

I went to check it out today. 20% of all games, but unless its brand new you are gonna get ripped off. For example Gears of War 2 was 20% off of $60, not too bad for a new game. But then I checked out Lord of the Rings Online (not the xpac) since I wanted to try something besides WOW and they wanted $45 for it when its only $7.97 at amazon. I'm almost certain before the liquidation they wanted $20 for it. So don't buy anything unless you know the normal price before hand.

I went back today again, things have gone down about 10% more but everything is gone.

However I got what I needed. I decided to play my Sega Dreamcast again and I have a VGA adapter for it, so I needed a VGA cord. I went to the back where the monitors used to be and pulled 2x 15ft VGA cords and 1x 3ft cord for $15

Not bad.

Was in there last night, at mine all the electronics were 40% off. Had alot of games in stock but no mouses/keyboards/cables/headsets/etc
