This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    downloaded CIV 3 but it will not open, tried compatibility mode in w7 and went though w95 through vista but it will not open. Downloaded and unzipped on desktop and there it sits. Thanks.

    Try redownloading it/Use different source. This is of course a legal download I presume?

    I know this doesn't help much, but imho, Civ 3 sucks all around, including compatabilities. If your machine can run Civ 4 and you don't own it yet, keep an eye out for deals at Direct2Drive and Steam. I picked up the whole Civ 4 collection (Civ 4, Warlords, Beyond the Sword, Colonization) for $15.
