Just installed Civ5 on my new notebook and if I start the DX11 version it crashes back to desktop. DX9 works fine.
Is this a driver problem? My XPS15 still has the stock drivers.
-
Maybe, what driver version do you have installed?
-
265.94 was shipped with the notebook...is there any newer driver which supports the 540M and optimus?
-
Probably Intel HDwhatever is being used instead of 540m
-
Its definitely the 540M in DX9, as it runs on high in 1080p without a hitch...it could be some problem with the optimus, if the 540M is not started when DX11 is selected...

I just looked in my Civ 5 directory and it looks like there are two different .exes, there is one called CivilizationV and one called CivilizationV_DX11. Try adding the second one to the whitelist and see if that fixes it.

Civ 5 DX11 mode is broken.
Check their official forums. -
Except that it isn't broken for everyone, I play in dx11 mode every time without problems.
op try updating to the latest drivers you can find with 540m support, I think nv is up to 270.xx now -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Agree with Hakira. DX 11 works wonders with me. In fact, it is DX 9 that keeps crashing and failing to start. I am forced to run in DX 11 mode
.
