Just installed Civ5 on my new notebook and if I start the DX11 version it crashes back to desktop. DX9 works fine.

Is this a driver problem? My XPS15 still has the stock drivers.

265.94 was shipped with the notebook...is there any newer driver which supports the 540M and optimus?

Probably Intel HDwhatever is being used instead of 540m

Its definitely the 540M in DX9, as it runs on high in 1080p without a hitch...it could be some problem with the optimus, if the 540M is not started when DX11 is selected...

I just looked in my Civ 5 directory and it looks like there are two different .exes, there is one called CivilizationV and one called CivilizationV_DX11. Try adding the second one to the whitelist and see if that fixes it.

Civ 5 DX11 mode is broken.

    Check their official forums.

Except that it isn't broken for everyone, I play in dx11 mode every time without problems.

op try updating to the latest drivers you can find with 540m support, I think nv is up to 270.xx now

Agree with Hakira. DX 11 works wonders with me. In fact, it is DX 9 that keeps crashing and failing to start. I am forced to run in DX 11 mode  .
