-
still have an old 9800xt in my desktop. with it i can play crysis at 1280@1024 with all settings low. it shows between 12 and 27 frames/s, so it´s quite powerfull still.
you´d like to buy it ?? -

@beatsiz
i´m not talking of a nvidia card, it´s more an ati.
and it´s just an xt not an gtx but it´s pretty damn fast for it´s age . -

Laptop wise, the minimum to play crysis on low settings is a 8400m gs or radeon x1600. For example, my packard bell(radeon x1700 64-bit) runs crysis at acceptable fps(25-35) on medium-low settings(whitout shaders and shadows)@848x480
-
I play it on my MBP in sig with all settings medium at native resolution (1440x900). Pushing the game to all high makes it jumpy and unplayable.
I'd say an ATI HD2600 should perform similarly to my 8600m GT GDDR3.
Key points. Go for a laptop with a dual core at or above 2.2 GHz if possible. Minimum of 2GB of ram, 4GB would be ideal in Vista. Try for a 7200RPM drive.
If you want to play at all Medium around what I play at (1440x900), you'll need a highend HD2600 or a GDDR3 8600m GT. -
I play everything medium 1280x800 on the preordered final edition of Crysis with an average 20-40 fps, a little better than the demo ... so, I'm not impressed at all.
-
I think the 8400m gs can play it on all details low and the resolution at the lowest

Physics Game Accelerator AGEIA PhysX™ 100M Processor
this thing is completly useless -
mine works fine at a res of 1280x800 and i have a 7600 Go 256 MB, and core duo t2500!! i have a mixture of low and medium settings!!
i never though it wouldcope aswell with my aging lappy!!

Inspirion 1520, Vostro 1500, and pretty much any decent specced laptop with an 8600m GT should run it on medium/high at 1280x800.

Sooo... any words on 8600gt sli playing crysis well?
Anyone know anything about the 8800gtx ? -
At least you finally figured out the exact specs for your laptop. No one here has any idea when the 8800 is coming out let alone the letter suffixes if any behind the new model names. You've been asking the same question again and again each time you make a post or thread, is your memory that poor or are you plain stubborn?

They're likely to receive the cards first but there's no guarantee the 8800gtx or whatever it is will be called that way nor any indication of the card's performance and specifications.
-
All high but at a 1440x900 resolution. Also, my FPS isn't that great -- probably ~20 to ~24
