I noticed in a thread on this forum that on a 8600M GS someone was getting around 20-30 FPS in CnC3 how much better frame rates will I be getting with a 256 8600M GT?

At the same settings maybe 25-35 FPS.

Probably more than a 5fps increase (ignoring the cap)- I'd say slightly higer settings at stable 30 w/ some dips.

There is a negligible different between the frame rates of the GS and GT with CnC3. The game is capped at 30 FPS in game.

I have a 8600M GT, as you can see in my sig, and I play command and conquer 3 a lot. I run it at 1440x900 resolution, Ultra High, AA 1x, and I consider the game still playable. However, if you lower certain things, such as the res to maybe 1280x800 I think it is, you can gain some FPS.

The problem with CnC3 is that the FPS is tied to the actual game speed - ie if you have 15fps, your game is actually going only at 50% speed, making everything seem really slow despite having a playable frame rate.

For this reason, I run CnC3 at all medium w/o AA, as it stays at the max 30 fps that way without any dips. If the FPS werent tied to the speed, I would push it higher, but unfortunately it isn't so.
